Queen Genevieve - Queen consort?

In Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper, on the Queen Genevieve page, it says that she’s Queen consort, which means the wife of the King. However, that to me is a plot hole, coz if she was the widow of a king, which she was, then the antagonist COULDN’T become King by marrying her, she’ll go back to being a commoner? Or am I missing something here? Please leave your thoughts in the comment section as to the answer to this plot hole.
