"Trey Is for Horses" is a Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures episode. It is the third episode of season 2. The episode premiered on Netflix US on September 13, 2018.[1]

Official Description[]

"When Barbie discovers Duchess the horse is going to be sold, she and Stacie come up with a plan to keep her around."[2]

Story[]

While Trey is washing his car and Ken is riding his bike, Ken stops to compliment Trey's car. Poppy and Reardon leave their house, and Poppy mentions that she has a shoe concierge to polish her shoes. Trey tries to show his car off to his parents, but Poppy is uninterested and Whittaker tells Trey to focus on finding a partner for the tennis club tournament. Poppy says they can't have a repeat of the previous year, where Trey lost the match because he was taking selfies.

Trey sees Barbie and says she will be his tennis partner. Ken tries to ask Barbie about it, so Trey sprays water on Ken. Barbie goes to the stables and Stacie comes along to help her out. Stacie is excited because she loves the stables. Two horses, Misty and Duchess, greet each other. Barbie tells Stacie that the horses are best friends, and that she has never seen Duchess' owners. Stacie feels bad for Duchess, who looks sad. It's Barbie's job to make sure the animals are looked after, so she wants to give the horses some exercise. Barbie has always loved animals and finds it rewarding to help them.

Chelsea wants to start a puppy reading school, so Skipper helps her to make a video. In the video, Chelsea sits with the puppies and asks for donations to the Malibu Puppy Literacy Foundation. The puppies run off during the video, but DJ stays behind to chew on a book. Chelsea asks Skipper what she thinks of the video, and Skipper says it came from the heart. Chelsea wants the support of the entire community, so Skipper posts the video online. Chelsea picks up Honey, who gives her a kiss. Barbie rides Misty and Stacie rides Duchess. They race each other, and Duchess wins and has a lot of fun. Chelsea checks the puppy reading school fundraiser with Honey and Taffy. She is disappointed to see that only $2 has been donated (from Skipper and George). Chelsea needs a faster way to raise money. George falls over the mess on Chelsea's floor and suggests a garage sale.

Barbie and Stacie see Harriet, a girl who also works at the stables, on a tractor. Barbie asks if everything is running smoothly in the front office. Harriet says that Duchess' owners are planning on selling her, and she was unable to talk them out of it. Unless they change their minds, Duchess will be shipped off to a petting zoo in Porterville. Barbie wants to show Duchess' owners how special she is, so they give Duchess a makeover. Chelsea asks Margaret what can be sold in the garage sale. They can't sell their broken popcorn maker, so they settle on a gadget that removes fuzz from peaches.

Stacie teaches Duchess tricks to impress her owners. While Skipper is meditating, Chelsea asks Skipper for items for the garage sale. Skipper lets her take an autographed photo of a cartoon character, and then continues meditating. At the stables, Barbie plays some music and Duchess dances. Barbie, Stacie, Harriet and Misty watch Duchess dance and they cheer for her. Barbie asks if Duchess' owners will be impressed, and Harriet says they have just arrived. Barbie is shocked to find out that the Reardons own Duchess. Chelsea finds Ken, who is working on his surfboard. She asks if she can have his broken lawn gnome for the garage sale, and he agrees.

Barbie begs the Reardons not to sell Duchess, and Stacie wants to try and impress them. Whittaker doesn't want to hang around because he doesn't like the smell of the stables, Poppy is more interested in having a purse monkey than a horse, and Trey shudders at having to park his car next to the tractor. Barbie asks them to just ride Duchess once. Poppy collapses at the thought of wrinkling her clothes by riding a horse, and Whittaker attends to her. Trey feels bad for Duchess and offers to ride her, but his parents discourage him and tell him to focus on the tennis tournament.

Poppy mentions that Trey told them Barbie is his tennis partner. Barbie feels bad for Trey after seeing how his parents treat him, and considers him a friend she can help out. Chelsea sees George doing wood carving. She asks if she can sell his wooden ducks. George says they each represent a documentary he has made. He reluctantly parts with them. At the stables, Barbie thinks that Trey will love Duchess if he rides her. Stacie goes to find Misty and Duchess, but they are missing. Stacie and Barbie follow a trail of apple cores and find Misty and Duchess. The horses ran away together so they wouldn't get separated. Barbie tells them there is a plan to keep them together.

Barbie says she will be Trey's tennis partner if he rides Misty. Trey agrees, so Barbie and Stacie try to train him. After some failed attempts, Trey almost gives up. Barbie tells him to keep trying for Duchess' sake. Trey wonders if he can ride Duchess, and if it can be something he's good at even if his parents don't see it. He tries again and is able to ride Duchess. Duchess gives him a kiss, and Trey smiles at her and pets her. At Chelsea's garage sale, Skipper, Ken, George and Margaret buy some items.

Trey asks his parents to meet him at the stables, and they arrive an hour late. Trey told them it was about selling Duchess. Trey is excited to ride Duchess in front of them, but they are uninterested. They reluctantly watch Duchess and Trey dance while Barbie, Stacie and Harriet cheer. Whittaker says he didn't know Trey danced, and Poppy gets confused and asks if the horse is named Trey. Whittaker smiles and Poppy says the dancing is "not bad."

After the dance, Trey and Duchess fist bump. Poppy says it was charming, but Trey's parents still don't want a horse. Trey says he is good at horse-riding and he likes Duchess, so he refuses to let them sell Duchess. Trey's parents respect him for standing up for himself, so they let him keep Duchess. Misty and Duchess nuzzle each other happily. Poppy assumes Trey was naturally talented at riding because he is a Reardon. Barbie groans when Trey reminds her about the tennis tournament, but she learned from Trey that there is always hope to find the good in someone, no matter how hard you have to look to find it.
