"To Dye For" is the eleventh episode of the second season of Barbie: It Takes Two. It is the twenty-fourth episode overall. It was released on October 1, 2022 on Netflix US.[3]

"When Malibu and Brooklyn help Rafa dye some costumes, their skin accidently turns green from head to toe, right before a huge commercial audition."[4]
Story[]
Malibu and Brooklyn have a commercial audition for a national spot for Gourmet Popcorn. Rafa notes that the popcorn brand makes a famous pickle flavor, so starts making the girls pickle-inspired costumes to help them stand out from other auditionees. Rafa uses his grandmother's recipe to make green dye from organic spinach. Rafa has an emergency with a costume he designed for Handler's modern dance troupe; he explains that the troupe is 30 minutes away from their performance of The Swan Soars at Dawn, but the swan's costume split up the back and the harness snapped. Rafa rushes to fix the costume and tells Malibu and Brooklyn to stir the fabric in the green dye for 20 minutes and then dry it for "2" so it will be ready for their audition.
Stacie video chats with Malibu. Stacie has 3 ideas for her science fair project, but needs help picking one. Chelsea is Stacie's assistant and Skipper supervises them. Skipper shows Malibu a vintage hoodie she bought. Skipper doesn't want to wear it yet because she thinks Stacie will ruin it with her science experiments. Stacie's first experiment is magnetic slime, but it goes wrong and messes up the kitchen. Meanwhile, Malibu and Brooklyn can't find the recipe for the costumes. They assume Rafa meant to dry the costumes for 2 minutes, and then they try to put them on. The costumes are too small so the girls put their regular clothes back on, but their skin is green from head-to-toe.
Malibu finds the recipe and sees they were supposed to dry the fabric for 2 hours, not 2 minutes. She notices a warning from Rafa's grandmother that the fabric would shrink. At the Dreamhouse, Stacie's next experiment is "elephant tooth paste". The experiment is supposed to make so much foam that it looks like the amount of tooth paste an elephant would need. Skipper takes her hoodie out of the room since it cost her 6 months of allowance and she doesn't want it to get ruined. Malibu and Brooklyn are unable to wash off the dye and they smell like spinach. Stacie video chats with Malibu and says the elephant tooth paste experiment exploded and made another mess in the kitchen. Malibu's sisters see that she and Brooklyn are green. Stacie is shocked, Skipper makes fun of them, and Chelsea wants to bring them to school for Show and Tell.
Malibu and Brooklyn have no choice but to audition with green skin. The casting director remarks that she thought she'd seen everything until she saw them. Malibu offers to explain, but the casting director interrupts and says they have no time. She hands them the script, which is about a new cotton candy flavor of popcorn, not the pickle flavor. Malibu and Brooklyn improvise and use pickle puns and references to their green skin in their performance. Stacie's last experiment is called the Lemon Fizzinator and it involves a lemon-flavored drink. Chelsea thinks it sounds scary. Stacie reassures her that the experiment will go fine. Stacie trips over the puppies and loses her grip on the bottle after she takes the lid off. The bottle goes flying and the drink spills on Skipper's hoodie. Stacie takes the hoodie outside to dry it without Skipper noticing. The hoodie looks different after drying in the sun, so Stacie phones Malibu and Brooklyn for help. They think the hoodie looks artistic.
Skipper sees the hoodie and angrily chases Stacie. Stacie offers to give Skipper her allowance so she can replace the hoodie, but Skipper says it was a one-of-a-kind. Skipper continues chasing Stacie and the puppies join in. Skipper stops to look at the hoodie and loves how it looks truly unique now. Stacie tells Malibu and Brooklyn that her science project can be about how lemon juice and sunlight naturally remove stains. Malibu and Brooklyn use lemon juice to remove the green dye from their skin. Rafa phones them and says he resolved the swan costume issue. Rafa says he got a call from the casting director and told him she "relished" Malibu and Brooklyn's performance. They have a call-back audition and go to see the casting director again. She says their green skin inspired the advertising agency to continue showcasing their pickle flavor. Since they smell like lemons, the girls improvise a performance about lemon and pickle flavored popcorn.
