Swirlnados are enchanted currents of wind that act as security measures to guard Princess Graciella's Palace. If one gets caught in a swirlnado, they will be pulled into its whirls and lose balance.
Barbie, Raquelle, Carrie and Taylor manage to fly past the swirlnados while riding pegaponies with Raquelle taking the lead. They manage to evade all of the swirlnados and sneak into the palace.
