Skipper Roberts is a main character in Barbie & Her Sisters in A Pony Tale. She is voiced by Kazumi Evans.

Story[]

Skipper, Barbie, Stacie and Chelsea go to the Swiss Alps to visit their aunt Marlene's Alpine Riding Academy for the summer. They arrive in their camper and are greeted by Marlene, as well as their twin cousins Marie and Max and the twins' dogs Popcorn and Sebastian. Barbie and her sisters are given a room. Skipper used to love horses, but now she is more interested in technology. She stays in the room to update her blog while her sisters go to see the horses.

Alpine's riding master, Etienne, mentions a tournament. Marlene says Alpine is hosting the annual Inter-Academy Equestrian Tournament against all the other local riding schools, and the prize money is substantial. Skipper goes outside and tries to film Stacie getting on Pepper for the first time, but Stacie falls into some mud. Jonas, Albain and Theo, three boys from Ecole Montagne riding academy, see Stacie fall and laugh at her. They tease Stacie, so Skipper uses her table to put a picture of Jonas' face on a monkey's body. When the boys leave, Skipper takes a photo of Stacie on the ground.

The next day, Skipper and her sisters are woken up by a goat named Barnaby. Chelsea has to ride a small pony but Skipper, Stacie and Barbie get big horses. The sisters go horse riding and Skipper gets hit by a tree branch because she is looking at her tablet while riding. Barbie sees an unusual horse. She tries to alert Skipper, but Skipper doesn't see anything. A couple days later, Barbie befriends the horse and names her Majesty. Majesty is from the legendary Majestique herd of wild horses who are strong and fast. Meanwhile, Jonas interrupts Skipper while she takes photos of Barnaby. Jonas says he could outride Skipper any day. Skipper accepts his challenge and walks away. She asks Barnaby if Jonas is looking, but tells Barnaby not to turn around.

Skipper films Stacie failing a cross-country course. Marlene privately reveals to Skipper that she may have to sell Alpine due to low enrolment. Skipper says she and her sisters will compete in the tournament so Marlene can win the prize money. Skipper and her horse Juniper find Barbie and Majesty in the Valley of the Majestiques. Barbie makes Skipper pinky promise not to tell anyone about Majesty. Barbie wants to keep Majesty a secret because she fears Philippe Cheynet of Ecole Montagne will hunt down the Majestiques and break the herd apart. Skipper wants Barbie and Majesty to compete in the steeplechase, but Barbie declines and says Etienne will do the race.

On the first day of the tournament, Chelsea wins her event and Stacie comes 2nd place in the cross-country trial. Skipper beats Jonas in the dressage competition, and Jonas is impressed by Skipper. He wonders if he should get a tablet like Skipper. Skipper wins 1st place and gets a trophy. That night, the Inter-Academy Formal Dance takes place. Skipper and Jonas banter with each other and then he asks Skipper to dance. Outside of the dance venue, Philippe secretly unlocks a horse corral to sabotage Alpine. Chelsea tries riding a horse in the corral unsupervised. The horse panics and kicks the corral open, so all of the horses escape and run away. The horse kicks Etienne hard.

Chelsea falls off the horse, but she is okay. Skipper asks why Chelsea tried to ride the horse, and Chelsea responds that she wanted a big horse like Skipper, Barbie and Stacie instead of a small pony. Jonas helps Skipper and Barbie to track the horses until sunrise. Barbie figures out that the horses might be in the Valley of the Majestiques. They find the horses there. On the way back to Alpine, they encounter Philippe. Philippe calls Jonas a traitor for helping Skipper and Barbie and tells him not to return to Ecole Montagne. Philippe is confident he will win the steeplechase since Etienne has broken his arm and is unable to compete. Philippe plans on winning the steeplechase, buying Alpine Academy and its land, and then finding the Majestiques and profiting off them.

Barbie is determined to win the race, so she competes with Majesty like Skipper suggested. Skipper films the race while sitting next to Jonas. When Barbie and Majesty win, Skipper cheers so loud that Jonas covers his ears. Alpine Academy wins the overall Tournament Cup. Someone uses Skipper's table to take a photo of Skipper with her sisters, Marlene and Majesty. Marlene gives Barbie a framed version of the photo and says Skipper caused Alpine's enrolment to triple by posting a video of Barbie's race online. Before Skipper and her sisters leave to go home, Skipper tells Jonas he's not always a bad guy. They smile at each other and Jonas tells Skipper he will email her.

Personality[]

Skipper used to be really passionate about horseback riding but started to prefer technology as she got older, being more interesting in using her tablet than participating in the activities at her aunt's school in Switzerland. But while she may not as passionate about horseback riding as her sisters (especially Barbie, who's a champion horseback-rider back in America), after Marlene reveals that she might have to shut down Alpine Academy, Skipper comes up with the idea of her and her sisters competing in the Inter-Academy Equestrian Tournament in the hopes of helping their aunt's school win (since, as Skipper noted to Marlene, winning the tournament would bring in potential students).

Also, even if she's not as passionate about horseback riding as she was when she was younger, it's clear that Skipper's still very skilled at it, particularly when it comes to dressage (which Barbie notes when Skipper explains her idea of her and their younger sisters competing in the tournament to help their aunt).

Skipper gets into a bit of rivalry with Jonas, a student from École Montagne (a rival riding academy also competing in the tournament), but they seem to get over their rivalry after Jonas is genuinely shocked/impressed at her skills in the dressage portion of the tournament and after he helps Skipper and her older sister, Barbie, find Alpine's horses after they escape during the Inter-Academy's formal dance. But despite their rivalry, Skipper and Jonas are implied to be crushing on each other, and when Skipper and her sisters leave to go back home to America, Jonas waves goodbye to Skipper and promises to email her.
