Renée is one of the supporting characters in Barbie and The Three Musketeers. She is voiced by Dorla Bell and played by Nikki. She dreams of being a musketeer.
Story[]
Renée works as a maid at the palace with Viveca and Aramina, and later Corinne. She first meets Corinne while she is playing her violin near the palace. Corinne bumps into her and makes her fall into the fountain after Brutus and Miette caused her lose her bow. When her boss Madame de Bossé calls Renée and her friends in to meet the new maid, they are angry upon seeing Corinne as their new co-worker and recognize her as the one who offended them. Corinne offers to make it up to them, so Renée makes her clean the ballroom floor with a little brush as punishment. That night, as they head back to their sleeping quarters, Aramina invites Corinne to stay with them and the latter pays Renée to stay for one week. While the girls head back, Corinne decides to go retrieve Renée’s bow from the fountain and return it to her, earning her forgiveness.
The next day, Renée and her friends were cleaning the castle hallways when a chandelier suddenly dropped from the ceiling and nearly kills Prince Louis. Renée manages to defend herself by destroying all the chandelier pieces flying at her, demonstrating her quick reflexes. She notices the other girls also have good reflexes and they all reveal their shared dream to become musketeers. Hélène, another maid, overhears them and brings the girls to the old Musketeers training room. She tells them that she’ll train them, but they have to work together. The girls spend the entire day training until they are exhausted.
The next morning, Renée heads to the training room with Viveca and Aramina to practice sparring. Corinne joins later and informs them of the recent incidents that have been putting Louis in danger. Hélène suspects a secret plot against the prince and warns the girls to remain silent and vigilant until they can find proof. The girls spend the next couple days training with Hélène, even practicing during their work shifts until Corinne successfully defeated their mentor in a duel. That night, the girls leave the palace to celebrate. They suddenly spot the Regent and his men transporting weapons in a dark alley, and learn that they are planning to use the transported weapons to kill Louis during the upcoming masquerade ball and allow his evil cousin Philippe to take the throne. The girls quickly return to the castle to warn Treville, but he doesn’t believe them and they are kicked out.
The girls return to their quarters, dejected. But Corinne encourages Renée and the others to take action since they are the only ones who know of the plot against the prince and can save him. They come up with the idea to infiltrate the palace during the masquerade ball, when no one will be able to recognize them with masks on. Renée gets to work on creating weapons that blend with their costumes.
The day of the masquerade ball arrives and the girls are fully prepared to save the prince. When night finally falls, the girls infiltrate the castle through its secret passageways, unaware that Philippe and his men are also sneaking in with real weapons in hand. Renée and her friends successfully enter the castle without being recognized by Treville. When they arrive at the ballroom, Renée calls herself “Abby Birthday” (a pun on “Happy Birthday”) to avoid further recognition. She and the girls begin scouting the area quietly, remaining vigilant for any signs of danger. The announcer suddenly declares the commencement of Prince Louis’s sword dance. Renée watches the prince choose Corinne to dance with as she reminds Aramina to stay focused. The fireworks soon go off as the dance ends. While everyone is distracted, a masked man attempts to kill an unguarded Louis but Corinne stops his attack in time and alerts the guards. The Regent and his men surround the girls while Louis and the masked man escape.
They quickly take action, shifting into their musketeer gear and prepare to fight their opponents. Renée, using her necklace as a slingshot, knocks out the men’s weapons and sends them running in fear. After some time, the girls realize they have lost sight of the prince while fighting. They spot Louis’s mask by the passageway entrance and head there. While they are searching the dark corridors, the girls accidentally stumble upon Treville and the musketeers, who have all been tied up by the Regent and his men. Renée stays with Viveca and Aramina to help them while Corinne goes after the prince herself. They successfully free the musketeers, who then proceeded to apprehend the Regent. By the time Renée and the others reached the castle rooftop, Corinne has successfully defeated Philippe and saved Louis. The girls then share a group hug together.
After Philippe and his accomplices have been arrested, Louis thanks the girls and asks them to reveal their identities. Soon after, Louis ascends the throne and makes Renée and her friends official musketeers. After the coronation, Treville informs the girls of another mission. They declare, “All for one, and One for all!” as they ride off into the sunset.
