Portals are magical doorways that lead from one place to another. They appear in multiple productions.

Barbie in the Nutcracker[]
Clara and the Nutcracker enter a mouse hole that transforms into a whirling portal and takes them to a snowy place where they encounter snow fairies. By helping one of them, the fairies reward her kindness by opening a doorway to the realm of Parthenia.
Barbie as Rapunzel[]
Princess Rapunzel uses a paintbrush to create a portal to escape her confinement in the tower and back again.
Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses[]
By stepping on the flower-patterned cobblestones, Princess Genevieve learned to access a staircase that led them down to a mysterious place where they could dance freely. Derek was able to follow the pattern by inspecting her shoeprints, and later Duchess Rowena's monkey Brutus was able to do the same by witnessing Derek's movement.
Barbie in A Christmas Carol[]
The Spirits of Christmas took Eden Starling and her cat Chuzzlewit on three different journeys through time by going through time portals. The Spirit of Christmas Past brought them to a past event where she last celebrated Christmas with her best friend's family; the Spirit of Christmas Present brought them to the present to make them see things that are unfolding presently; and the Spirit of Christmas Future brought them to a most probable future. Unlike the other time portals, the Future is in constant flux and therefore have many different holes based on possible outcomes. By witnessing the events, Eden learned to mend the error of her ways and change the future for the better.
Barbie: A Fairy Secret[]
Fairies must traverse through these portals in order to reach Gloss Angeles and vice versa. Princess Graciella sealed all the portals to Gloss Angeles while under the effects of a Love Potion, to stop Carrie, Taylor, Barbie and Raquelle from following them to rescue Ken.
By closing the portals, all fairies on the mortal plane were trapped. However, Graciella did not close one portal: the one in Lilliana Roxelle's penthouse in Paris, which the girls and fairies used to travel to Gloss Angeles.
Barbie and the Secret Door[]
A mysterious Secret Door in a palace garden somehow leads directly into the kingdom of Zinnia. By going through the door, Princess Alexa's outfit changes and her hairpin turns into a wand.
Barbie: A Touch of Magic[]
There was initially a portal between Earth and Mesmer, which anyone could travel through. By closing it permanently, access to Mesmer could only be done through flying or portal magic.
Bunnycorns, the Sapphire Fairycorn and the wizard Titan all have the ability to create portals around the world and to travel to another dimension. Mermaids could also use portal pools to access any water system around the world, including a pond on Banishment Island and a fountain in New York.
