Mesmer is a location in Barbie: A Touch of Magic.
It is a magical land in the sky that inhabits several magical creatures, including pegasi, unicorn folk, centaurs, elves, fairies, merfolk, and Glyphs. There are animals that look like dogs, squirrels, rabbits and goats, as well as talking butterflies. However, when Rocki goes to the human world, she doesn't know what a goat is. Humans cannot read the language of Mesmer since the magical land is hidden from the human world and its language is unknown to most.
Mesmer once had a portal way to enter Earth, but it has been permanently closed since the season 1 finale, and now can only be accessed by someone who can fly, which has since been put under strict rules. Mesmer has pathways that lead to Pacifica, but can only be traversed by mermaids via the Secret Portal System.
Story[]
Season 1[]
When Barbie Met Peggy[]
Peggy's Mom creates a portal to Malibu, California. As storm clouds approach, she says their world depends on Peggy. Peggy leaps through the portal and is followed by Rocki the Glyph, who needs something from Peggy. A giant wave happens when Peggy arrives at a beach. Malibu and Brooklyn find Peggy. Later, Peggy shows Malibu a vision where a giant wave washes over Peggy, she grows larger and sprouts wings, and she is able to fly back to Mesmer. Malibu and Brooklyn try to get Peggy to the beach in time for the next big wave, but they miss it.
There Might Be Dragons[]
Malibu has an unsettling reoccurring dream about a boat and a dragon. The dream reminds her of the vision Peggy showed her, so Malibu has a feeling Peggy is trying to tell her something. Later, Peggy transforms Blissa into a dragon in response to a wish. Rocki and Tiger see Blissa flying and Rocki says if that dragon is who she thinks it is, it could "ruin everything." Blissa eventually turns back into a cat, but a real dragon—the one from Malibu's dream—is later seen flying in the sky.
A Real Page Turner[]
Malibu finds information online about a book Dru Charles wrote on Mesmer. Malibu and Brooklyn visit Dru, who is hesitant to speak to them until Brooklyn mentions Mesmer. Dru says she found Mesmer while hiking one day. She was welcomed by most of the creatures there. She felt she had a real connection with them until she woke up at the beach and Mesmer was gone. Dru wrote the book so she wouldn't forget what she saw in Mesmer. She only had one blurry photo of two pegasus horses as proof, so her book was cancelled since everyone thought she was lying.
Dru explains that Glyphs can be tricky, have a certain level of their own magic, and don't get along with pegasus horses. She adds that Glyphs cannot grow their own wings; instead, they must earn them. Malibu and Brooklyn don't think Peggy is safe with Rocki chasing her, so Malibu asks how to get Peggy back to Mesmer. Dru can't answer because she doesn't know how she got to Mesmer before. Malibu and Brooklyn bring Dru to see Peggy, who had granted a wish for Elvy, a magical creature from a book Chelsea was reading, to be real. Elvy is able to read the language of Mesmer in Dru's book. It describes a great task needing to be done on Earth before a pegasus gets wings, and warns about a Glyph who wants wings.
Tiny Problems[]
Rocki speaks to Will while he is disguised as the Glyph Council leader. Rocki says she knows leaving Mesmer is forbidden, but she wanted Peggy to give her wings. Will says Peggy is on a mission and Rocki is interfering with powerful forces that she doesn't understand. Will wants Rocki to bring him Peggy. Rocki says she can't get back to Mesmer without wings, but Will clarifies he wants Rocki to bring Peggy to him, not Mesmer.
