Max is a character in Barbie & Her Sisters in A Pony Tale. He is voiced by Tabitha St. Germain. Marlene, the owner of Alpine Riding Academy, is the mother of Max and his twin sister Marie. The twins' cousins are Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea Roberts. Max has a dog named Sebastian and Marie has a dog named Popcorn.
Story[]
Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea visit Alpine Academy for the summer. Before they arrive, Max puts flowers in the girls' room. The twins greet the girls when they arrive. Max tries to give Barbie a handshake, but Marie jumps on Barbie to hug her. Barbie and Marie fall down, and Max asks the girls to excuse Marie.
The twins help the girls to bring their luggage to their room. Max points out the flowers he put in the room. Marlene thanks Marie and Max for helping and then tells them to go back to their chores. Later, the twins show Stacie and Chelsea to the horses. Marlene tells Stacie and Chelsea that they cannot pick horses because they are beginners, and instead, the horses will pick them. Max tries to elaborate on how a horse will pick them, but Marie interrupts, so Max feels annoyed. Max attempts to explain saddles in detail to Stacie and Chelsea, but Marie interrupts him again.
Jonas, a boy from rival riding school Ecole Montagne, comes to Alpine with his friends Albain and Theo. They make fun of Stacie when she falls off her horse. After Jonas and his friends leave, Max says the Ecole Montagne boys were only antagonizing them because of the upcoming Inter-Academy Equestrian Tournament. Marie explains that Alpine Academy usually loses to Ecole Montagne. Max doesn't think Alpine will win a tournament any time soon. The twins giggle when Stacie falls off her horse again.
The next day, a goat named Barnaby goes into Barbie and her sisters' room and wakes them. He tries to eat Barbie's blanket. Max and Marie come by and are unsurprised to see Barnaby. Marie says Barnaby ate all of her socks and Max says it's a miracle Barnaby is still alive. Barnaby eats a flower Max left in the room.
Days later, Philippe Cheynet, the riding master of Ecole Montagne, wants to find the legendary herd of Majestique horses. Barbie befriends one of the horses and names her Majesty. Philippe is suspicious that Barbie knows where the Majestique herd are, so he spies on Barbie. While spying on Barbie from inside a garbage bin, Philippe hides when the twins come by with some garbage. Max and Marie argue because Marlene is letting them decide the theme of the Inter-Academy Formal Dance, since Alpine is hosting. Max wants to do a "Alpine Primroses in Springtime" theme, but Marie wants to do a "Robot Samurai" theme. The twins unwittingly dump their garbage on Philippe while bickering.
During the Inter-Academy Equestrian Tournament, Max and Marie support Chelsea, Stacie and Skipper from the crowd while the girls compete. Max is happy because Chelsea and Skipper win their events. He says that this is the best Alpine Academy has done in years. At the dance, Max greets people at the door and sweeps up glass after people drop their drinks. He dances with his cousin Stacie. Philippe sabotages Alpine by unlocking a horse corral. Chelsea gets left alone and goes outside to ride a big horse. The horse kicks the corral door open. Chelsea falls off the horse and the horses escape. Max is glad Chelsea is okay and says they will call the neighboring farms and ask them to keep a lookout for the runaway horses.
The next day, the horses are found. Barbie gets back just in time and competes in the final race with Majesty against Philippe and his horse Hurricane. Max winces when Philippe hits a competitor's hose in the face with his riding crop. Barbie and Majesty win in spite of Philippe's cheating. Marie hugs Max, Popcorn and Sebastian. Alpine wins the overall Tournament Cup. When Barbie and her sisters are leaving, Max comes along to see them off and waves goodbye to them.
Physical Appearance[]
Max is a young boy with light blond hair, blue eyes and light skin. He has black glasses on. Max wears a jacket, white shirt, a blue sweater white pants, and blue and white shoes. The arms of his shirt are cuffed up around the sleeves of his jacket. Max's jacket has a popped collar and elbow length sleeves. The jacket is black with green and pink lining at the bottom, and his sweater has white polka dots on it. He also wears a pink bowtie. At the formal dance, Max wears a black tuxedo with a white shirt, blue bowtie and blue waistcoat.
Personality[]
Max is formal and proper. He has a calm demeanor and a dry sense of humor. He is more serious than Marie so he finds her grating at times due to their clashing personalities. They bicker occasionally and Max dislikes when Marie interrupts him. Max is smart, organized and he pays attention to detail. He respects tradition and prefers to follow it rather than be spontaneous like Marie. Max is knowledgeable about horse saddles.
