"Life Can Be a Dream"is a Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures episode. It is the second episode of season 2. The episode premiered on Netflix US on September 13, 2018.[1]

Official Description[]

"Thinking about the future prompts Barbie to have a dream where anything's possible -- and everything's really, really weird."[2]

Story[]

Barbie and her friends Nikki, Teresa, Renee and Daisy imagine what their future careers will be. Teresa wants to be a bio-chemist; Nikki wants to be the head of her own lifestyle empire; Daisy wants to be a world-famous DJ; and Renee wants to be an intergalactic skip tracer (which she thinks will be possible in the future). Barbie can't decide because there are so many possibilities. She feels frustrated because they will be in college soon, where people will be asking them what they want to do when they graduate. Barbie's friends calm her down and then leave so she can meditate. However, Trey is being loud next door with his friends Ned and Ted. They are trying to film a viral video of a water balloon fight while on a trampoline. They throw balloons into Barbie's backyard and ignore her request for them to quiet down, so she gives up on meditating. Barbie falls asleep in her backyard and dreams about her future.

In Barbie's dream, Barbie is the mayor of Future Town. Nikki, Teresa, Renee, Daisy and Ken help her to get ready for the day. Another Barbie, who is an award-winning journalist reporter, arrives to interview Mayor Barbie. Barbie is happy to be both the mayor and a reporter, and Ken says anything is possible in Future Town. Journalist Barbie reports that a UFO is heading towards Future Town. Barbie asks Ken to get her more information from a reliable source, such as a scientist. Nikki and Renee call Mayor Barbie outside to look at a giant ticking clock, which was sent by Trey, Ned and Ted. Mayor Barbie checks the gift tag on the clock, which is signed from "Annoying Guy", a "local villain." The tag says that Future Town will go "kablooey" in a short amount of time.

Journalist Barbie reports on the clock, and then leaves with Mayor Barbie and Ken to meet a scientist. Nikki, Teresa, Renee and Daisy carry the clock and follow them to a sandy beach. The scientist is another Barbie, who is an astro-physicist. Barbie says getting to be the mayor, reporter and the scientist makes this the best dream she's ever had. Mayor Barbie tells Scientist Barbie about the UFO that is heading towards Future Town. Journalist Barbie interviews Scientist Barbie. The three Barbie use Scientist Barbie's telescope to look at the UFO (which is a water balloon that is too far away for them to distinguish).

Scientist Barbie tries to alert the space station in case they can intercept the water balloon, but Trey has given her tablet a virus. Trey, Ned and Ted discuss how Barbie has never liked Trey because of him repeatedly antagonizing her. In the past, Trey has broken Barbie's bike, stolen her cake, and destroyed her organic herb garden by falling on it. Trey's current plan is to take over the world, and get the greatest viral video of all time from the water balloon destroying Future Town. Trey texts Scientist Barbie that there's nothing she can do to stop the water balloon, and Journalist Barbie reports on it. Barbie's friends ask Mayor Barbie what she's going to do. Before Ken can help, he sinks into the beach's sand like quicksand. He tells the Barbies to talk to someone who knows Future Town's history.

Scientist Barbie thinks of someone who can help, but she is far away. They take Ken out of the sand, attach the clock to Mayor Barbie's plane, and fly to the stables. There are dozens of Barbies on the plane with different careers, such as Pilot Barbie. She holds up Taffy and says, "Time to land this puppy," referring to the plane. At the stables, Journalist Barbie reports their arrival, and the clock floats down from the plane using a parachute. Barbie's friends chase the clock. The others meet another Barbie, who is a history teacher and a horse jockey who is riding Misty. She tells Mayor Barbie that she can be anything if she puts in the work, and that Future Town has never dealt with a crisis like the water balloon. Barbie's friends catch the clock, but they are running out of time.

Scientist Barbie and Mayor Barbie use the telescope and see that the UFO is a water balloon. Historian Barbie says that imagining the impossible is the first step to making it possible, so Mayor Barbie just has to imagine a solution. Mayor Barbie says they should all work together, and she uses a helicopter to find more Barbies. Mayor Barbie finds Ballerina Barbie and asks her to find Engineer Barbie. Engineer Barbie designs a giant bow and arrow. Mayor Barbie calls Business Owner Barbie and asks for a giant robot. The residents of Future Town are alarmed as they see the water balloon getting close, and Mayor Barbie is almost out of time.

The giant robot arrives with the giant bow and arrow, and shoots the water balloon before it hits Future Town. The balloon explodes and rains glitter down on Future Town. Trey is angry that his plan was thwarted. The giant robot plays music and the Barbies dance with Barbie's friends. Ken and Scientist Barbie dance together. Everyone celebrates as glitter falls down, and Journalist Barbie reports that Barbie saved Future Town. Barbie wakes up from her dream and tells her friends that they helped her to figure out her future. Barbie learns that she doesn't have to know exactly what job she wants because there are so many possibilities to explore.
