Mariposa, a well-known and beloved Butterfly fairy by the citizens of Flutterfield, her native homeland
A Butterfly fairy is a type of being in Barbie: Mariposa and Her Butterfly Fairy Friends and Barbie: Mariposa & the Fairy Princess. They are the residents of Far Away Flutterfeild which is located out of Fairytopia.
Flutterfield is guarded by Skeezites, large monsters that eat the butterfly fairies. The butterfly fairies are not aware of Fairytopia or any other type of fairy as they have never been able to leave their home. Butterfly fairies love glitter and partying. In the sequel, however, it is stated that they were enemies of the Crystal Fairies but at the end they become allies as King Regellius of Shimmervale and Queen Marabella of Flutterfield celebrate together at Princess Catania's Crystal Ball.

Butterfly fairies look like normal fairies apart from their notable butterfly wings. Butterfly fairies wear the same attire as flower fairies which includes flower petals and leaves.
