DJ is character in Barbie & Her Sisters in The Great Puppy Adventure, Barbie & Her Sisters in A Puppy Chase, Barbie: Dolphin Magic, Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures, Barbie: Princess Adventure, Barbie: It Takes Two, Barbie: Skipper and the Big Babysitting Adventure, and Barbie: A Touch of Magic. In The Great Puppy Adventure, DJ was a girl but he was changed to a boy in later appearances. DJ was voiced by Taylor Dianne Robinson in The Great Puppy Adventure and A Puppy Chase, and AJ Hudson in Dreamhouse Adventures. He does not speak in other appearances. DJ belongs to Skipper and lives with her in a dreamhouse in Malibu, California. DJ is is one of Tiffany's puppies.
Story[]
The Great Puppy Adventure[]

Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea go to Willows, Wisconsin to visit their Grandma Roberts. Grandma's dog Tiffany has had four puppies. Each of the sisters gets a puppy. Skipper names DJ.
A Puppy Chase[]
DJ and his siblings are owned by Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea. DJ is Skipper's puppy. When the sisters go to an island so Chelsea can compete in a dance competition, they take the puppies with them. On the plane, DJ and Skipper feel sick from the flight. As they prepare for landing, the puppies get into bags. When they land, an island hostess gives the DJ and the other puppies some flowers to wear on their ears. DJ sneezes because he is allergic to the flowers. Stacie says the puppies are cute, and Skipper takes a photo of them. Barbie says they are adorable.
Barbie rents a golf cart for transportation, and the puppies get excited to ride in it facing backwards. DJ and the puppies look at the beach, and get excited. They arrive at the Dancing Horse Festival at Banyan Tree Park. Barbie lets the puppies out to play. DJ listens to some music using headphones. The puppies watch the dancing horse show, and see horses named Beauty and Spirit doing tricks.
A butterfly lands on Honey's nose, and the puppies are intrigued. Honey sneezes and the butterfly flies away. DJ and the puppies follow it into a horse trailer. The puppies get excited and call the trailer a playground. They play until they are interrupted by Archibald, a show dog who says it is his trailer. Archibald thinks the puppies are loud, but cute. He chats with them and tells them about himself.
The horses return to the horse trailer and make friends with DJ and the other puppies. The puppies ask Spirit to teach them her moves, and she says they are adorable. Spirit and Beauty's mother, Silver, asks how the puppies got into the trailer. Beauty asks if the puppies can stay and play, but Silver says the puppies have to go back to the girls. DJ says they should get going, but the horse trailer starts to get driven away by Vivian and Marco, the horse trainers.
Taffy says they can't leave without the girls, but DJ says it's too fast for them to jump out. At night, DJ says they've never had a sleepover before. Archibald tells the puppies not to worry, and says the girls will find them tomorrow. He gives them treats, and they settle down to go to sleep. The puppies say good night to Archibald. The animals sleep in the trailer while Marco and Vivian use a tent. They camp at White Sands Campground, a beach where people can surf and snorkel.
The next day, Honey asks if it's tomorrow yet. Archibald says no, it's today. DJ and the puppies get confused as Archibald explains what he means. Vivian and Marco discover the puppies are in the trailer, and say they will take care of them until the can reunite with the girls. DJ and the puppies bark happily, and have bacon and eggs for breakfast. Beauty says Spirit is going to take her for a run, and they invite the puppies along. The puppies are too slow to keep up with the horses, so Taffy suggests they do puppy eyes at Marco, who is riding Silver. DJ and the puppies do puppy eyes, and Marco gives them a ride.
DJ plays with his siblings, and they hula dance. Rookie says they should go surfing. DJ has fun surfing and spots the girls on the beach. The puppies reunite with their owners. DJ licks Skipper and she takes a selfie of them. Vivian and Marco say they will transport the girls and their puppies to Chelsea's dance competition, but they come to a washed out road. Marco says the girls can use the horses to get over the gap in the road. Stacie and Skipper get on Silver with DJ and Rookie. The puppies cheer for the horses as they jump.
The girls stay on the horses and come to a crossroads. Barbie picks a random path, which leads them back to Banyan Tree Park instead of the dance competition, meaning Chelsea will miss the competition. Barbie's they had fun finding the puppies, and the puppies say they had fun too. DJ says they "rocked this island." Barbie figures out how to get to the competition in time, but the host tells Chelsea she is too late. Rookie tells the puppies to do puppy eyes, and the host changes her mind.
Chelsea starts to perform, but gets nervous. Beauty joins her to help her out, and Spirit and Barbie join in too. Rookie says he can dance too, and joins in with DJ. Honey and Taffy start dancing too. They tell Archibald to dance with them, and he does. DJ and the puppies copy his dance move and call it The Archie. The collaborative dance helps Chelsea to win the competition, and she thanks DJ, Honey, Rookie, Taffy and everyone who helped her. Archibald turns the music back on, and DJ dances with everyone again.
Dolphin Magic[]
DJ goes to an island with Skipper, her sisters and the other puppies. They visit Ken during his marine biology internship. When DJ and the others arrive at the resort, they explore their cabin. DJ barks happily and looks around. DJ gets on a spinning chair and spins until he gets dizzy. Ken visits and the puppies greet him. Ken picks up DJ and Taffy and invites everyone to see the reef with him. Barbie agrees and the puppies surround Skipper. DJ licks Skipper's camera and she says she is coming to the reef too. Ken drives a speedboat out to the ocean with Barbie, Skipper and the puppies.
The puppies get excited watching Barbie, Ken and Skipper go into the ocean. The puppies wait on the boat, which has a transparent floor. DJ sees fish underneath the boat and tries to catch one, but he gets scared when he sees a turtle, so the other puppies laugh at DJ. Skipper takes a blurry photo of a mermaid named Isla. Skipper, Barbie and Ken get back in the speedboat and follow Isla to Marlo's marine research facility where Ken works.
Isla hides when she hears the speedboat approaching. DJ and the puppies are curious about Emerald, a green dolphin locked in an enclosure at the facility. Marlo tells everyone to leave, but the puppies get left behind. The puppies see Isla turn her tail into human legs. Isla calls the puppies "dolphins of the land" and says her being a mermaid is their secret. The puppies follow Isla as she tries to free her friend Emerald. Barbie goes to get them. Barbie meets Isla, who says Emerald is a Gemstone Dolphin. DJ and the puppies are excited when they arrive back at the cabin. The puppies stay behind while the girls go to the sandwich bar. Barbie invites Isla to sleep over at their cabin, so Ken takes care of the puppies overnight.
In the morning, the puppies go back to the girls' cabin and run over to Isla. Barbie's sisters and the puppies go to the facility to see Emerald. The other Gemstone Dolphins get captured. Barbie comes up with a plan to get the code to unlock the dolphins' enclosure to prevent Marlo from exploiting them. DJ and the puppies are grouped with Ken and Chelsea for the plan. After the plan is complete, Isla reveals to everyone that she is a mermaid and calls the dolphins her "puppies of the sea." The code fails so DJ and the puppies stay at the facility while Barbie guides Isla and the dolphins through underwater tunnels, away from Marlo's facility. DJ is on the speedboat driven by Ken as Isla and the dolphins escape. DJ and the others are sad when Isla and the dolphins leave, and they are happy when they eventually get to see them again. DJ greets Isla with the other puppies, and Skipper holds DJ as they watch the Gemstone Dolphins swim in the ocean.

In "Room Swap", it is revealed that Chelsea is the one who helped Blissa and the puppies to get used to each other.
Dreamhouse Adventures[]
Season 1[]
In "Welcome to the Dreamhouse!", the Roberts family move into a new Dreamhouse with the puppies. DJ and Honey chase a floor cleaner.
In "Clubhouse (Remix)", Barbie and her sisters order a gift online to surprise Chelsea for her birthday. When it arrives, they see that they ordered the wrong thing. Taffy, DJ and Rookie are oblivious to the girls' dilemma, and they just play with the packaging. Chelsea enters the room on a toy train with Honey. Chelsea asks the puppies where they've been, and then they leave with her and Honey for puppy story time in the clubhouse. Barbie and her sisters later present Chelsea with a redecorated clubhouse.
In "The Great Pioneer Adventure", the Roberts family decide to spend the weekend living like American pioneers did in 1840. They make wooden toys for the dogs. When it starts to rain, DJ runs indoors, but later runs in the girls' tent and shakes water off his fur onto them. After walking for miles to get water, Skipper tells DJ that she'll never ask him to fetch anything ever again.
In "Baby Sister Babysitter", Skipper is going to babysit two young kids. She practices babysitting using DJ as a pretend baby. When Skipper gets left alone while babysitting, Barbie worries that the kids will be rowdy and scare Skipper and the puppies, so Barbie comes home to spy on Skipper.
In "Picture Perfect Cake", Barbie enters a robotics competition at Robot Con. It takes place the same weekend as her parents' 20th anniversary. Barbie makes a surprise cake for their anniversary party and then goes to Robot Con. At the Dreamhouse, Skipper accidentally ruins Barbie's cake. Chelsea and the puppies distracts their parents and the party guests while Skipper and Stacie make a new cake.
In "The Roof Fairy", Chelsea tells Barbie about a the Roof Fairy. Barbie says she isn't real, and then feels guilty, so she tries to bring the Roof Fairy to life for Chelsea. Barbie, Skipper and Stacie dress Ken up as the Roof Fairy, and tell him to go on the roof with DJ, who is dressed in a tuxedo to look like a penguin. DJ gets distracted by Blissa, so Ken doesn't make it onto the roof in time before they bring Chelsea outside. They see the real Roof Fairy on the roof and then Chelsea goes to bed, happy that the Roof Fairy exists.
Season 2[]
In "Trey Is for Horses", Chelsea wants to start a puppy reading school, so Skipper helps her to make a video. In the video, Chelsea sits with the puppies and asks for donations to the Malibu Puppy Literacy Foundation. The puppies run off during the video, but DJ stays behind to chew on a book.
In "A Dreamhouse Puppy Tale", Chelsea tells her family a story about how the vacuum and an alligator toy want to take over the Dreamhouse while the Roberts are asleep. They steal items from around the house to make a slingshot to launch the puppies into the sea. The puppies get cornered on a diving board and Honey says they should never have skipped swimming lessons to take reading lessons instead. The puppies stop the alligator and vacuum with help from Mew-Mew.
In "Putts for Pups", Chelsea wants to teach the puppies how to read, but they don't focus when she tries showing them cards or reading to them. Chelsea wants new books to read to them, so she decides to hold a mini golf charity event to get book donations to start the first ever puppy library. The puppies sleep while Chelsea plays. Chelsea completes the tournament, so everyone donates books. The puppies watch as she opens the puppy library in front of the Dreamhouse.
In "Pied Pupper", Barbie attaches a mini camera to Honey's collar so that Chelsea can film a "Day in the Life of a Dog" video. Barbie makes health bars for Nikki to give away at a music festival. Honey sneaks into one of the boxes of health bars, and Nikki accidentally takes her to the festival. The camera is connected to Barbie's laptop, so DJ and Taffy hear Honey barking. They try to get Barbie's attention, but she thinks they just want treats. She gets distracted, so she doesn't notice that Honey is missing until later on.
In "A Delicate Situation", Skipper and Stacie add wheels to socks and Stacie skates around. The puppies surround her and she loses her balance and bumps into Ken. Renee comes to stay and practices a performance she might do for her family at Chinese New Year. She is bad at playing the violin and singing so it makes the puppies howl and run away.
Season 3[]
In "Virtually Famous", Barbie gets "vlogger's block" and needs help thinking of vlog ideas. Her friends help her to film a vlog, and it goes viral. Teresa becomes obsessed with making more viral videos. Barbie finds it hard to be honest that she's not having fun chasing internet fame. Barbie eventually tells Teresa the truth, and they film a lip dub video with everyone, including the puppies.
In "All Dogs Go to the Beach", Chelsea has a tea party with the puppies. Poppy uses her connections to ban dogs from the beach. To try and reverse the ban, Nikki runs for office with Barbie as her campaign manager. The girls give the puppies pictures to hand out, but DJ tears his up. The Reardons sabotage Nikki's campaign, so Nikki loses by one point. Poppy is caught insulting the voters. To avoid a recall election, Poppy pretends she loves dogs and reverses the dog ban to prove it.
In "Room Swap", the Reardons have construction done so the noise displaces some ants. The Dreamhouse gets infested by ants, so Barbie and her sisters get the puppies and stay in the camper until the ants have been removed. Barbie realizes Blissa is missing, so the puppies help the girls to find her.
In "Totally Spying", the Reardons get the Roberts' mail, including a notice that says if they don't file the Dreamhouse blueprints by the next day, they could be forced to move. The puppies surround Poppy and Whittaker. Poppy tells Trey to steal the blueprints so they can make the Roberts and the puppies move far away. The puppies watch Skipper uses a drone to film Stacie skateboarding. Stacie falls off the skateboard and it flies towards Blissa. She jumps in fright and lands on the skateboard. She falls off too, so the girls and the puppies check on her. Blissa is okay, so the puppies bark happily. Stacie leads the puppies away to get treats. Trey gets the blueprints, but returns them out of guilt after the Roberts are nice to him.
In "Barbie Roberts: Undercover Mermaid Part 1", the Roberts go to a tropical island, so Ken watches the puppies while they're away.
In "A Dog's Day in Court", Nikki is at the Dreamhouse getting help with her pet business. Some dogs run over to the Reardons and give Trey fleas. This inspires a plan by Poppy to make the Roberts move away. The Reardons release fleas in the neighborhood and cause a 3-mile wide flea infestation. While the houses are being fumigated, there is an official city order that there can be no animals on the premises. Margaret and George take Blissa and the puppies to a pet hotel. Poppy rents several animals and has them delivered to the Dreamhouse. An animal inspector checks the Dreamhouse, sees the animals, and says the Roberts have the right to appear before the city council and plead their case. In court, Barbie finds a animal rental receipt and a witness (the person who delivered the animals) to prove that Poppy is to blame. Poppy resigns from the city council and the Roberts are saved from being evicted.
Go Team Roberts! Season 1[]
In "Magical Mermaid Mystery: Part 1", Barbie and her friends get summer jobs at a water park named Oceans Extreme, and Barbie's family goes on vacation to Costa Rica so George can film a whale documentary. While the Roberts are away and Barbie is busy working, Trey plans to have a party at the Dreamhouse. Barbie forgets to feed the puppies, so Honey opens the refrigerator and the puppies make a mess. Trey and his friends dig a hole from his backyard to the Dreamhouse so he can sneak in. DJ is annoyed when he sees Trey outside. Later, Ken sees the puppies sleeping on his front porch, so he brings them to Dreamhouse. Barbie thanks Ken and wonders how the puppies got out.
Princess Adventure[]
DJ relaxes at home while Barbie gets ready to film a music video for her vlog. After Barbie's sisters inspire her to complete the song, she films the music video and it features DJ. Barbie goes on a field trip to Floravia, and her family takes DJ and the rest of the puppies with them when they see Barbie off at the airport.
Taffy wants to go with Barbie, so she runs after her. DJ and the other puppies follow Taffy and run around the airport. Skipper catches DJ, but Taffy gets away. At the end of Barbie's trip to Floravia, her family watches a livestream of her, and DJ plays with the other puppies.
It Takes Two[]
In "Cut It Out", Stacie bakes cookies with Skipper and Chelsea. They leave the kitchen in a mess and go to play video games. Margaret tells them to clean up. Stacie pretends to be sick so she doesn't have to clean. Margaret lets Stacie lie down and gives her ice cream. When no one is around, Stacie plays with the puppies, but whenever someone enters the room, Stacie pretends to be sick.
In "To Dye For", Skipper buys a vintage, one-of-a-kind hoodie. The puppies run past Stacie after she takes the lid off of a lemon-flavored drink, and the drink spills on Skipper's hoodie. Skipper angrily chases Stacie and the puppies follow them. When Skipper sees the hoodie, she loves how it looks after the lemon juice dries in the sun.
Big Babysitting Adventure[]
DJ sleeps while Skipper babysits some kids. The kids are napping but Skipper accidentally sits on a squeaky duck. Skipper yelps and DJ wakes up and howls. A baby wakes up and cries. DJ barks and the other kids wake up. The kids start running around and making noise, so DJ does too. DJ chews on a pillow and the kids have a spaghetti fight. The kids throw spaghetti on DJ.
A Touch of Magic[]
Season 1[]
In "When Barbie Met Peggy", George asks his daughters not to be noisy while he works. The puppies run in and knock him over, so he asks Stacie and Chelsea to take the puppies outside. The puppies sleep until they see a baby pegasus named Peggy. The puppies bark loudly at Peggy, annoying Poppy Reardon.
In "Finding Home", The puppies chase Peggy when they see her trashing the kitchen.
In "Ken One and Ken Two", Stacie pretends to play American football with Peggy and the puppies. Later, Ken helps Malibu to walk the puppies.
In "Tiny Problems", Skipper tells Peggy to sit still while she mixes her demo track. The puppies come in the room and make a mess. Peggy tries to stop them, but they leave and Skipper thinks Peggy made the mess.
In "Careful What You Wish For", Skipper has a dream where Malibu doesn't exist. She has a redecorated version of Malibu's bedroom. DJ sits by Skipper's bed. Skipper asks if she walked into Malibu's room and redecorated while she was sleeping. Skipper tells DJ to get on the bed and they jump on it together as Skipper celebrates having her own room.
Physical Appearance[]
DJ is a dark brown puppy with brown eyes. DJ has a black nose, and wears a black collar with silver studs. In A Puppy Chase, the island hostess welcomes DJ by giving him a light purple flower to wear on his ear. DJ later wears the flower with a grass skirt while hula dancing. The grass skirt has yellow flowers around the waist. In "The Great Pioneer Adventure", DJ wears pink, gray and white headphones.

A Puppy Chase[]
According to a promotional video, DJ's favorite color is red, his favorite game is hide and seek, and his favorite ice cream flavor is rocky road. The description says, "Meet Skipper's puppy, DJ! He's the class clown, and he moves to the beat of his own drum! When you're with DJ, the show never ends!"[2] DJ is very excitable and playful. He likes listening to music and doing whatever he wants. The other puppies find DJ funny. DJ wants to learn Spirit's moves. DJ is fascinated when he sees a butterfly and the beach. DJ compliments Beauty's dancing. DJ gets distressed when he is separated from the girls, but he considers staying with Archie to be his first ever sleepover. DJ likes eating dog treats, and bacon and eggs. He has a lot of fun on the island when he surfs and plays on the beach. When Chelsea gets nervous during her dance performance, DJ helps her by joining in, and he encourages Archibald to dance too.
Dolphin Magic[]
DJ is playful and loud. He amuses the other puppies and he is interested in sea creatures. DJ is friendly and gets excited easily. He enjoys eating treats, playing with the other puppies and exploring new places.
Dreamhouse Adventures[]
DJ is playful and curious. He enjoys playing with his siblings and chasing squirrels. He dislikes fleas. DJ is obedient and helpful when Chelsea needs help distracting people at her parents' 20th anniversary party.
