Official Description[]
"Malibu and Brooklyn agree to let The Dash make a movie about their singing duo for an upcoming film festival, but it's a total disaster and could ruin their career before it even starts."[4]
Story[]
The Dash wants to make a film for Handler's annual film festival, so he chooses Malibu and Brooklyn as his subjects. He only has 12 hours to make a shoot, edit and premiere a film that will premiere the following day. Rafa, Malibu and Brooklyn think the film could be good publicity for The Barbies, so they agree to be filmed.
In California, Malibu's sisters are playing video games and eating cookies that they baked. They left the kitchen in a mess, so Margaret tells them to clean the kitchen. Stacie is suddenly sick so Margaret lets her lay down. Skipper and Chelsea don't believe Stacie is really sick, so they phone Malibu for help.
While The Barbies are recording in the studio, The Dash interrupts them to try and direct them. He yells at Malibu for using her phone. The Dash tries to film Malibu's conversation with her sisters, so Brooklyn tells him to go film something else. The Dash thinks the conflict is good for his film. The next day, The Barbies find The Dash on his laptop in the film room and ask to see the film. He claims he doesn't usually let people see his films before they're finished, but he makes an exception for the girls.
The Dash's film includes footage taken out of context to make it seem like The Barbies are only making music for money, and also to make it seem like Malibu wished her sisters hadn't phoned her. Malibu and Brooklyn are angry after watching the film, but The Dash says he just took artistic license. Brooklyn demands that The Dash re-edit the film to show what really happened, but The Dash says the current edit will be a huge hit at the premiere that night.
While Skipper and Chelsea clean the kitchen, Stacie quietly plays with the puppies in the living room. Skipper and Chelsea go to the living room to check if Stacie is resting. Margaret catches Skipper and Chelsea in the living room and tells them to continue cleaning. Stacie pretends to rest while eating cookies.
At Buddy's cafe, Malibu and Brooklyn complain about The Dash to Rafa. Rafa suggests stealing The Dash's laptop so they can re-edit the film themselves. Brooklyn's idea is to for her and Malibu to change their names and leave New York forever. Stefan mimes that they shouldn't worry about The Dash's movie. Epiphany thinks they should upload a virus to The Dash's laptop.
Skipper and Chelsea phone Malibu about Stacie faking being sick. Malibu says she's in the middle of her own problem. As Malibu tries to explain, she mentions the word "camera". This gives Skipper an idea to check the cameras in the Dreamhouse to probe Stacie is lying. Skipper films Stacie playing video games and jumping on the couch while Margaret isn't in the room.
At Buddy's cafe, Epiphany refuses to serve The Dash coffee unless he re-re-edits his film. He declines. Stefan mimes in front of The Dash, and The Dash misinterprets it and feels inspired The Dash to re-edit the film. It is only an hour until the premiere, so The Barbies rush The Dash off to edit the film.
Skipper and Chelsea confront Stacie with the video of her playing. Stacie frantically lies that her illness made her do it, or that the puppies used mind control on her. Skipper and Stacie want to show the video to Margaret, so Stacie admits she lied about being sick. She says playing video games and eating ice cream is more fun together, and offers to finish cleaning on her own. Skipper and Stacie say they'll help with the cleaning after they eat some cookies.
While The Dash re-edits the film, Epiphany serves him some broffins and Stefan does more miming. The Dash still wants the film to be dramatic, but Malibu and Brooklyn tell him not to embellish things and that the film should come from the heart.
In the film, Malibu and Brooklyn talk about chasing their dreams and hope their music will inspire people to go after their own dreams. The film gets a positive response. The Dash says from now on, he will make honest films. The Dash wins the Audience Choice award and gives an arrogant acceptance speech.
