Barbie & Her Sisters in A Puppy Chase[]

Chelsea Roberts is a character in Barbie & Her Sisters in A Puppy Chase. She is voiced by Alyssya Swales. Chelsea and her sisters go to an island with their puppies so that Chelsea can take part in a dance competition. When the sisters get separated from the puppies, the girls set out to find them.

Story[]

Chelsea and her sisters Barbie, Skipper and Stacie fly to an island so that Chelsea can compete in a dance competition. They are accompanied by their puppies. On the plane, Chelsea watches a video of herself practising. She asks Stacie if she can see the theatre for her dance competition, or any dancers rehearsing on the stage.

Barbie says she is going to show her sisters a surprise, but Chelsea says she wants to go to the hotel to start practising. She sees another dancer named Lindsay, and they greet each other. Chelsea says she needs to rehearse as much as possible in order to compete with Lindsay. She says that Lindsay is probably practising in the hotel van. Barbie tells Chelsea to stop worrying, and she rents a golf cart as transportation.

While driving to the surprise, the girls lose their map of the island. Chelsea suggests going back to the hotel, but they keep going. Barbie takes her sisters to Banyan Tree Park and surprises them with the Dancing Horse Festival. While the girls watch the festival, their puppies go into a horse trailer. Chelsea is impressed by the horses, but still wants to keep practising. Chelsea notices that one of the horses, Beauty, is nervous, so she encourages her, and Beauty is able to perform well.

After the horses perform, Chelsea asks a horse trainer, Marco, if he has any tips for winning a dance competition. He tells her to feel the beat, forget the audience, and have fun. Stacie asks Marco if he recommends any fun beaches, and he says he is going to camp at White Sands Campground. Marco and his sister Vivian go to leave, but Stacie realizes the puppies are missing. Marco and Vivian drive away with the puppies still in their horse trailer. Barbie tries to drive after them in the golf cart, but it gets stuck when she tries to take a shortcut. Chelsea wants to go back to the hotel so she can practice her routine, but it is too dark. The girls decide to camp and then go to White Sands Campground the next day to find the puppies.

While Chelsea and her sisters are camping, they play the What If game. Chelsea's sisters say that Chelsea always says "What if cupcakes were as big as a house?" while playing this game. They play the Imagination Game next, and imagine if they'd rented a camper instead of a golf cart. They hear a noise, and Barbie tells her sisters that it's a macaw bird. She shows them a macaw constellation in the sky that points north. Chelsea has trouble seeing it at first, but uses her imagination. Barbie says it sounds like the macaw bird is saying "good night", and it makes Chelsea fall asleep. It starts to rain, so the girls wake up and sleep in the golf cart.

The next day, Chelsea immediately wants to head out to find the puppies before her competition. She continues practising as they travel. The girls come to a washed out road and decide to hike a mountain to get around it. Chelsea gets tired going up the mountain, and says she misses her puppy, Honey. Barbie makes sure her sisters get up the mountain safely before she goes, and they help her up. They find that they have to zip-line down to a village so they can call for help. Chelsea has fun zip-lining, and encourages Skipper when she gets scared during her turn.

At the village, Chelsea gets frustrated with Barbie because everything is closed and no one is around. Barbie finds Anna, a woman who works at a car rental company. Chelsea tells Anna that she needs to get back to the hotel for her dance competition. Anna offers the girls a camper like the one from their Imagination Game. The camper runs out of gas, but Stacie notices that they are near White Sands Campground. The girls go to the beach and see no one around.

While Skipper and Stacie look for Vivian and Marco, Barbie and Chelsea wait behind. Chelsea gets angry with Barbie for being positive even though things keep going wrong. Chelsea says it would "stink" if she missed the competition. Barbie suggests they play the Everything Stinks game, where they imagine bad situations. They are able to look at the positive side of every scenario. Chelsea worries that she will make mistakes during her routine and lose the competition. Barbie tells Chelsea the most important thing is that she does her best, and they hug.

The girls see the puppies, and they all reunite. Vivian and Marco offer to drive the girls to Chelsea's dance competition, but they arrive at a washed out road. Beauty asks her mother, Silver, why Chelsea looks worried. Silver replies that Chelsea won't get to her competition in time because of the gap in the road, but Silver's other daughter, Spirit, says they can help. The horses get Marco's attention, and he says the girls can use their horses to get across the gap. Chelsea hugs Vivian and Marco, and she gets on Beauty so they can jump over the gap. Chelsea and Honey encourage Beauty when she gets nervous before jumping, and Beauty makes it over the gap.

Vivian and Marco say they will drive a different route and meet the girls at the competition. The girls continue on the horses, but they come to a crossroads. The random path that Barbie picks leads back to Banyan Tree Park. Barbie apologizes to her sisters for messing up and taking them to Banyan Tree Park the day before instead of just going to the hotel. Chelsea repeats Barbie's earlier advice and tells Barbie that she did her best. Chelsea says Barbie can tell them when she's worried because they're sisters.

Barbie looks up and notices the macaw constellation. She uses it as a map to find the hotel, which is in the north part of the island. Chelsea gets to the competition and changes her clothes. Chelsea apologizes for being late, and pleads for a chance to perform. The puppies do puppy eyes at the host, Savannah, who says Chelsea deserves a chance. Lindsay agrees, and Chelsea gets on stage.

Chelsea gets nervous while performing, and she stumbles and falls over. Beauty gets on stage and gets everyone to clap for Chelsea. Chelsea is also joined by her sisters, puppies, and the rest of Vivian and Marco's animals. Savannah praises Chelsea for the performance, and the judges award Chelsea the trophy with Lindsay's support. Lindsay says she will win it back at the next competition, and Chelsea says Lindsay can try. They laugh, and Chelsea thanks everyone who helped her. Chelsea's performance music is turned back on, and everyone dances.

Physical Appearance[]

Chelsea is a young girl with light skin, blue eyes, and long blonde hair. She mainly wears her hair in a low ponytail to the side, with a pink hair tie. Her main outfit consists of a black top that says "MERMAID AT HEART" in colorful text, purple shorts, and yellow and white low-top sneakers. Chelsea wears a pink and yellow lei when she gets welcomed on the island by the island hostess. While zip-lining, she wears a light blue and purple helmet with green leaves printed on it, and she wears a black helmet while horse-riding.

For her dance performance, Chelsea has her hair down with a pink headband. The headband has a flower on it. She wears a dress that has blue straps with a yellow and pink flower on it. The top of the dress is pink, and the skirt is yellow with pink flowers on it. She wears yellow shorts underneath and yellow sandals.

Personality[]

Chelsea likes surprises, cupcakes, dancing, and the color pink. Chelsea can dance well when she isn't nervous, but she is insecure about her dancing skills when she compares herself to Lindsay. Chelsea thinks she has to rehearse often in order to compete with Lindsay, and she gets frustrated when she forgets her dance moves or something gets in the way of her performing.

Chelsea gets nervous about the idea of making mistakes while dancing or losing the competition. When she does make mistakes while performing, she is able to keep going after being encouraged. She was looking forward to competing and was even counting down the hours. However, after Chelsea and Barbie open up to each other about their worries, Chelsea accepts the idea of missing the competition.

Quotes[]

  • "Surprise? That's my second-favourite word. After cupcakes. Unless it's surprise cupcakes. Is it surprise cupcakes?"
  • "I need as much rehearsal time as I can get. Look how good Lindsay is. I bet she even dances in her sleep."
  • "I'll just practise as I go. I guess. Five, six, seven... Or was it two, three, four? Ugh!"

  • "What if cupcakes were as big as a house?"
  • "Twelve hours until the competition, but first, we gotta save the puppies. Let's get moving, people!"
  • "Cake? I miss cake. Almost as much as I miss Honey."

  • "What if after everything, we came all this way and I don't get to do my routine? That would just... Just stink!"
  • "Just because you mess up doesn't mean you fail. As long as you get out there and do your best, that's all that matters."

Barbie: Dolphin Magic[]

Chelsea Roberts is a character in Barbie: Dolphin Magic. She is voiced by Ciana Swales. Chelsea and her sisters go to an island to visit Ken during his marine biology internship. They befriend a mermaid named Isla and help her to free the Gemstone Dolphins from the research facility where Ken works.

Story[]

Chelsea, her sisters and their puppies stay at an island resort while visiting Ken during his marine biology internship. Chelsea sees that the cabin has a slide, so she changes into her swimsuit and puts on her floatation ring, Mr. Floatie. Chelsea asks Ken if he has seen any mermaids. Skipper says mermaids aren't real, but Barbie says not seeing mermaids doesn't mean they don't exist. Ken invites everyone to see the reef with him. Stacie can't go because of a sprained ankle, so Chelsea stays at the cabin with Stacie. While Chelsea plays on the slide, Stacie looks around the island using binoculars. Chelsea borrows the binoculars and sees a green Gemstone Dolphin named Emerald. It is being kept at Marlo's research facility, where Ken works.

Chelsea and Stacie go to the facility to look at Emerald. At the reef, Barbie, Ken and Skipper catch a glimpse of a mermaid named Isla. Skipper takes a blurry photo of her. They follow Isla and arrive at the facility at the same time as Chelsea and Stacie. Isla hides when she hears the speedboat. Ken asks Marlo if Emerald is a Gemstone Dolphin, but she says they're not real. Ken says that means they're like mermaids, so Chelsea replies that mermaids are real. Barbie tells her that anything is possible. Marlo says a vet will be flying in to check on Emerald the following afternoon, and she tells everyone to leave. Chelsea wants to stay, but Marlo insists that everyone leave.

On the way back to the cabin, Chelsea realizes the puppies are missing. Barbie goes back to get them and meets Isla, who has used a magic necklace to turn her tail into legs. Isla says Emerald is a Gemstone Dolphin and agrees to wait for the vet, as long as Barbie doesn't tell anyone about Gemstone Dolphins. Barbie invites Isla back to the cabin to meet her sisters. Chelsea asks Isla about herself. After Isla says she has no sisters, Chelsea replies that she is lucky because she won't get hand-me-downs. They go to the resort's sandwich bar to eat. In the evening, Chelsea and her sitsers go back to the sandwich bar with Isla. They meet up with Ken, and Skipper takes a group selfie. Chelsea makes a beat with a coconut shell, and her sisters join in to make a song. Barbie invites Isla to have a sleepover with them.

Chelsea has a pillow fight with her sisters. Chelsea tries to wake Isla in the morning. Chelsea and her sisters get breakfast sandwiches with Isla, and then Chelsea goes back to the cabin with her sisters. Barbie and Isla go swimming. The Gemstone Dolphins find them, and one of them touches Isla's necklace. Isla's legs transform back into a mermaid tail. Barbie promises not to tell anyone, not even her sisters. After seeing Marlo waving in a helicopter, Chelsea and her sisters think the vet has arrived. They look for Barbie and get a closer look at the helicopter. Chelsea thinks the walrus logo on the helicopter is cute, but Skipper thinks it is a weird logo for a vet. Chelsea and her sisters overhear Marlo and Hugo discuss how they will make money off of Emerald. The girls realize Hugo is not really a vet.

Isla finds an underwater cave and wonder if it leads to the facility. The dolphins go to the facility to find Emerald so Marlo captures them. She locks the gate using a remote. Chelsea and her sisters overhear Marlo telling Hugo that she needs more nets to transport the dolphins to the mainland facility. Skipper uses her tablet to make her photo of Isla clearer, and the girls see that it is a mermaid. However, Isla's face is not visible. Chelsea and her sisters find Barbie at the facility. Chelsea tells Barbie that Skipper took a photo of a mermaid. Barbie comes up with a plan to free the Gemstone Dolphins. At the sandwich bar, Ken and Honey distract Marlo while Chelsea takes Marlo's remote. Chelsea gives the remote to Skipper, who syncs it to her tablet and gets the code for the dolphins' enclosure. Chelsea returns the remote to Marlo's table. Marlo sees that her remote has been tampered with so she changes the code again.

At the facility, Isla reveals to everyone that she is a mermaid. Chelsea is happy to see a real mermaid. Marlo arrives and Isla hides in an underwater tunnel with the dolphins. Barbie pretends the dolphins escaped, so Marlo gets in the helicopter with Hugo. Barbie helps Isla and the dolphins to escape while Marlo and Hugo chase them in the helicopter. Ken drives the speedboat with Chelsea and everyone else on board as the dolphins swim alongisde it. When the water gets shallow, Isla swims away with the dolphins. Chelsea says they will miss her. Marlo sees Isla and wants to capture her instead. Barbie quickly disguises herself as a mermaid and gets captured. Chelsea gets worried, unaware it is really Barbie. Isla and the dolphins swim to safety, and Barbie tells Marlo that she will lose her facility because she exploits animals. Later, at the beach, Chelsea builds a sandcastle. Isla and the dolphins reunite with everyone and Chelsea gets excited to see Isla again.

Physical Appearance[]

Chelsea is a young girl with long blonde hair, blue eyes and light skin. Her casual outfit is a white tank top, blue shorts, and green low-top sneakers. She has a pink and purple floatation ring that she calls Mr. Floatie. At the sleepover, she wears a light purple nightdress with ice cream cones on it. She also wears pink bunny slippers. On the speedboat, she has a yellow and purple lifejacket.

Personality[]

Chelsea is imaginative, playful and cheerful. She believes in mermaids before finding out they are real, and she pretends her floatation ring talks to her. Barbie encourages Chelsea to believe that anything is possible. Chelsea and her sisters have a strong bond that they treasure. Chelsea likes Isla and is very curious about her. Chelsea tries to make Isla laugh and helps her to save the dolphins.

  • (After Skipper sees that mermaids are real) "See? I rest my case."

Season 1[]

In "Welcome to the Dreamhouse!", Chelsea and her family move into the Dreamhouse. It is in the same location as their old house. Chelsea misses the old house, and when the Dreamhouse starts malfunctioning, Skipper thinks Chelsea is pranking everyone. Their parents argue after George blames Margaret for the house malfunctioning. Chelsea is distressed by the problems that the Dreamhouse is causing. The family gets locked out and a storm approaches, so Chelsea says they should make a plan. Margaret sees that a squirrel chewed the wires in the Dreamhouse access panel, so she fixes it and the Roberts get settled into the Dreamhouse.

In "Clubhouse (Remix)", it is Chelsea's 6th birthday. As a present, Barbie and her sisters want to redecorate Chelsea's clubhouse, with help from Barbie's friends. They leave the clubhouse by the curb while they look for decorations. A garbage truck takes the clubhouse, so Barbie and her friends find the clubhouse while people distract Chelsea. They surprise her with the redecorated clubhouse, and Chelsea says it's the best present ever.

In "Nobody's Cupcake", Stacie signs Barbie up to compete in an extreme baking show called Bake 'til You Ache. Chelsea, Skipper and Stacie encourage Barbie to do it. Barbie agrees, and her rival is Tammy Bounceway, a rising social media lifestyle influencer. Tammy cheats during the show, but Barbie wins with help from her family in the audience. The show's producer, Greg, says the audience loves Barbie instead of Tammy now, but Chelsea says that isn't real love.

In "The Great Pioneer Adventure", the Roberts spend the weekend living like American pioneers in the 1840. They forgo phones, cars and electronics and camp in their backyard. They become increasingly inconvenienced and exhausted living without technology. Margaret has a crisis at work and has to deliver something to her office, but due to a traffic jam, Margaret won't be able to get there in time. Barbie and Skipper ride a horse named Misty to get Margaret's delivery to work in time. Chelsea wants to play video games, but Stacie thinks going without technology is exciting.

In "Baby Sister Babysitter", Barbie is supposed to babysit but she wants to see a movie with her friends. George suggests that Skipper babysit instead of going to the planetarium with him, Margaret, Stacie and Chelsea. Skipper is left alone with the kids she is babysitting, so Barbie worries about her. Barbie goes home to spy on Skipper and sets off an alarm by accident, so Chelsea and the others come home.

In "Road Trip", Barbie is having a pool party with Skipper, Chelsea and her friends. Daisy announces that she has the opportunity to DJ at a music festival in a desert. She feels nervous at performing to a huge crowd, but goes on a road trip with her friends in Barbie's camper. Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea see them off.

In "Picture Perfect Cake", Barbie enters a robotics competition at Robot Con. It takes place the same weekend as their parents' 20th anniversary. Barbie makes a surprise cake for their anniversary party and then goes to Robot Con. At the Dreamhouse, Skipper accidentally ruins Barbie's cake. Chelsea and the puppies distracts their parents and the party guests while Skipper and Stacie make a new cake.

In "The Roof Fairy", Chelsea tells Barbie about a the Roof Fairy. Barbie says she isn't real, and then feels guilty, so she tries to bring the Roof Fairy to life for Chelsea. Barbie, Skipper and Stacie dress Ken up as the Roof Fairy, and tell him to go on the roof. Ken doesn't make it onto the roof in time before they bring Chelsea outside. They see the real Roof Fairy on the roof and then Chelsea goes to bed, happy that the Roof Fairy exists.

Season 2[]

In "Balancing Act", Barbie feels like she has outgrown her father-daughter tradition of spending equinox with George. She agrees to let Chelsea do it instead, but Barbie feels sad about giving up the one-on-one time with George. Barbie finds them and admits she's not ready to give up the tradition, and the three of them do the tradition together.

In "Trey Is for Horses", Chelsea wants to start a puppy reading school, so Skipper helps her to make a video to raise funds. Chelsea wants to get donations quickly, so she does a garage sale. She asks Margaret, George, Skipper and Ken for items she can sell, and they each buy something from her.

In "A Dreamhouse Puppy Tale", Chelsea tells her family a story about how the vacuum and an alligator toy want to take over the Dreamhouse while the Roberts are asleep. They steal items from around the house to make a slingshot to launch the puppies into the sea. The puppies stop the alligator and vacuum with help from Mew-Mew. In reality, the items went missing because Chelsea made a sculpture as a surprise for Margaret's birthday. The sculpture is of the Roberts sisters and Margaret on an island, since Margaret wants to go on vacation to Hawaii in the following year. Margaret thanks Chelsea and kisses her.

In "Putts for Pups", Chelsea wants to teach puppies how to read, but she doesn't have money to buy them books. Chelsea decides to hold a mini golf charity event to get book donations to start the first ever puppy library. If Chelsea can complete the tournament in 18 strokes or less, everyone will donate books. Trey, Ned and Ted laugh at Chelsea for wanting to teach puppies to read. She cries and gets discouraged, but Barbie inspires her to do the tournament. Chelsea completes the tournament and starts the puppy library in front of the Dreamhouse.

In "Pied Pupper", Skipper says Chelsea can use her mini camera for a school project. Barbie attaches the camera to Honey's collar so that Chelsea can film a "Day in the Life of a Dog" video for her Science class, where she is studying animal behavior. Honey gets lost while Chelsea makes artwork for her film's title sequence. Barbie goes to find Honey, and they end up stuck in a tree. This gets caught on camera, and Chelsea's teacher loves the film. She gives Chelsea an A+ for originality.

In "A Day at the Beach", Chelsea films Stacie trying to break the world record for number of pogo stick bounces. Skipper asks them to be quiet because she is babysitting Bonnie. She has tried everything to get Bonnie to sleep, but nothing has worked. Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea relax Bonnie by blowing a feather to make it float in the air until Bonnie falls asleep. They set the world record for "longest time keeping a feather in the air without touching it."

In "A Delicate Situation", everyone is too busy to play with Chelsea so she makes up some imaginary friends. They are Sue Ellen, Carlotta, and Carlotta's brother Myron. Skipper and Stacie invent skating socks by adding wheels to socks. Renee comes to stay and practices a performance she might do for her family at Chinese New Year. She is bad at playing the violin and singing, so Chelsea sits outside and covers her ears. Skipper and Stacie make so many prototypes that they run out of socks, so they ask Chelsea to test the invention with her socks.

Season 3[]

In "Virtually Famous", Barbie gets "vlogger's block" and needs help thinking of vlog ideas. Her friends help her to film a vlog, and it goes viral. Teresa becomes obsessed with making more viral videos. Barbie finds it hard to be honest that she's not having fun chasing internet fame. Barbie eventually tells Teresa the truth, and they film a lip dub video with everyone, including Chelsea.

In "All Dogs Go to the Beach", Poppy uses her connections to ban dogs from the beach. This will affect Nikki's new dog-walking business and Barbie won't be able to bring Taffy to the beach. Barbie and Nikki are unhappy about the dog ban, so Nikki runs for office with Barbie as her campaign manager. Chelsea helps by going door-to-door with Ken, but the Reardons visited everyone first and so Chelsea and Ken don't get good responses. After a debate between Nikki and Poppy goes wrong, Chelsea is impatient to see if Nikki will win. Nikki loses by one vote, but Poppy is overheard insulting the voters. To avoid a recall election, Poppy pretends to love dogs and reverses the dog ban. Nikki's dog-walking business becomes more popular and she hires Chelsea to help.

In "The Ballad of Windy Willows", Barbie and Daisy visit Willows to see Barbie's Aunt Adele at Windy Willows inn. Chelsea helps them with their luggage before they leave.

In "Room Swap", Skipper and Stacie argue because they dislike sharing a room. Barbie agrees to swap rooms with them for the weekend. The Reardons are doing construction in their house, and the noise displaces some ants. Chelsea sees an ant trail and makes a place for the ants at the Dreamhouse. She gets a packet of sugar from the kitchen to feed the ants, and leaves a trail of sugar on the floor by accident. The Dreamhouse becomes infested by ants, so Chelsea and her sisters go in the camper while the ants are removed. Chelsea's sisters continue to argue after their unpleasant experience in each other's rooms, upsetting Chelsea. Chelsea wants her family to get along like way ant families do. The construction noise scared away Blissa, so the girls drive around looking for her. They find Blissa by using Chelsea's idea of meowing out the camper window. Chelsea and her sisters go home, and her sisters return to their own bedrooms.

In "Totally Spying", the Reardons get the Roberts' mail, including a notice that says if they don't file the Dreamhouse blueprints by the next day, they could be forced to move. Poppy tells Trey to steal the blueprints so they can make the Roberts move far away. Skipper uses a drone to film Stacie skateboarding. When they are done, Trey pretends to get injured by Stacie's skateboard. Chelsea reluctantly helps her family to take care of Trey and keep up with his demands while he tries to discreetly steal the blueprints. The girls suspect Trey is lying about being injured, so they check the drone footage and find out their suspicions are correct. They agree to be so nice to him that he confesses. It works, and Trey also admits he liked spending time with the Roberts. He has Rookie secretly put the blueprints back, but on his way out, Trey really gets injured by Stacie's skateboard. Chelsea and her sisters visit him in the hospital.

In "Barbie Roberts: Undercover Mermaid Part 1", Chelsea is frustrated because she can't successfully prank Barbie. She decides to prank Barbie while on vacation, because that's when Barbie will least expect it. Chelsea goes to a tropical island with her family and Barbie's friends. Chelsea's parents attend a documentary festival, and Barbie and her friends prepare for a fashion show at a mermaid convention. Margaret lets Nikki borrow a necklace for the fashion show. Chelsea and her sisters try to prank Barbie by moving her and her friends' things to a different room. Chelsea and her sisters avoid getting caught by the housekeeper, but a monkey sneaks into the cabin and steals Margaret's necklace. A hotel detective catches Chelsea and the others taking things from the room, and he assumes they are stealing since there have been escalating thefts at the hotel.

In "Barbie Roberts: Undercover Mermaid Part 2", a hotel detective brings Barbie's sisters to her and says he's investigating a string of thefts at the resort that weekend. He suspects Barbie's sisters are involved after catching them taking things from Barbie's hotel room for the prank. The girls are unable to contact their parents because they are watching documentaries, so their phone is off. After Barbie sees the monkey stealing, she comes up with a plan to catch it and prove her sisters didn't steal anything. Chelsea helps Barbie to get their mother's necklace back, and helps Barbie to prove the monkey was the one stealing things.

In "A Dog's Day in Court", Barbie, Ken and Chelsea help Nikki with her pet business (Watkins' Woofs, Walks and Washes). Some dogs run over to the Reardons and give Trey fleas. This inspires a plan by Poppy to make the Roberts move away. The Reardons release fleas in the neighborhood and cause a 3-mile wide flea infestation. While the houses are being fumigated, there is an official city order that no animals can on the premises. Poppy rents several animals and has them delivered to the Dreamhouse. Chelsea and her sisters try to hide the animals, but an animal inspector checks the Dreamhouse, sees the animals, and says the Roberts have the right to appear before the city council and plead their case. If they lose, they will be evicted. Chelsea and her family stall while Barbie finds a animal rental receipt and a witness (the person who delivered the animals) to prove that Poppy is to blame. Poppy resigns from the city council and the Roberts are saved from being evicted.

Go Team Roberts! Season 1[]

Margaret lets Stacie lie down and gives her ice cream. Chelsea and Skipper can tell Stacie is faking it. They phone Malibu for help, which gives Skipper an idea to secretly film Stacie playing video games when she thinks no one is around. Chelsea and Skipper show Stacie the footage, and Stacie admits she lied. Stacie says playing video games and eating ice cream is more fun together, and she helps them to clean.

In "Studio Sleuths", Skipper and Stacie need Chelsea's help to find things around the house. The Barbies record a song at Blown Speaker Studios. Things go missing around the studio, so Malibu wants to investigate. She phones Chelsea for help, since Chelsea is observant and has a great memory. Barbie: Mermaid Power[]

Chelsea Roberts is a character in Barbie: Mermaid Power. Chelsea, her sisters and Brooklyn transform into mermaids to go on an undersea adventure in Pacifica. During their adventure, Chelsea discovers an innate ability to communicate with sea animals, which allows her to awaken Water powers and become a Water mermaid.

Story[]

During a cleanup effort in the middle of the ocean, Malibu is alerted by Stacie to a glow emanating from her backpack and reveals the necklace given to her by Isla before they parted ways at the end of their previous adventure. When Brooklyn expresses skepticism about the existence of mermaids and real magic, Chelsea, Stacie, and Skipper all insist that the story is true. Skipper and Stacie persuade Malibu to take them all with her on this new adventure, and Chelsea is equally excited, as she has often been fascinated with mermaids. With everyone in agreement, the sisters and Brooklyn all join hands and leap underwater, where they are all transformed into mermaids and express their amazement over their new forms.

With Malibu's necklace as a guide, the five new mermaids soon meet up with Isla, who welcomes them all back with open arms, referring to the younger girls as "guppies". Their old friend leads them into Pacifica, where they are all welcomed into the kingdom by Coralia, who presides over the opening ceremony of the Pacifica games. Chelsea, Stacie, and Skipper are later befriended by a mermaid child named Aquaryah, who demonstrates her balance with her prosthetic fin, and a vaquita named Viva, while Isla explains of the different powers merpeople can gain and use. Stacie is excited about the thought of gaining her own powers so much that she scares a pufferfish Chelsea has named Puffy, while Chelsea is able to calm the new fish down.

As Chelsea watches Brooklyn and Malibu undergo the training session overseen by Aquaryah, Finn, Aquaryah's older brother, tries to convince her not to interact with these strangers any more than she already has, and Aquaryah argues that she is capable of handling herself. Overhearing this heated exchange causes Skipper to turn her anger on Finn and hit him with a blast of air, which in turn awakens her Air powers and turns her into an Air mermaid, for which she is congratulated by Aquaryah and Chelsea.

At a Power-Off located near a deadly whirlpool, Chelsea witnesses another heated exchange between Brooklyn and a mermaid named Talleigha, during which they both gain Fire powers and awaken as Fire mermaids. However, Talleigha immediately uses her powers to sneak-attack Malibu and push her dangerously close to the whirlpool. Malibu is only able to survive through Stacie's awakening of Earth powers and quick thinking by blocking the whirlpool's current with a manipulated boulder.

Before the games are about to begin the next day, Chelsea learns from Viva that Aquaryah has not been seen since the previous day, so she ventures out with the vaquita to search for her. They find Aquaryah in a secluded area of a kelp forest, practicing with various elemental powers, and try to convince her to come back to Pacifica. It is through this exchange that Aquaryah learns that Chelsea has awakened as a Water mermaid. After more conversation, Aquaryah agrees to return to the city with Chelsea and Viva, but they lose their way and are eventually kidnapped and imprisoned in a tank in an undersea vessel owned by the sisters' old foe Marlo and her new assistant Oslo.

During their time as Marlo's prisoners, Chelsea notices a pair of anglerfish imprisoned in the same tank as her and Aquaryah. Aquaryah has an idea for Chelsea to get the anglerfish on their side, and Chelsea makes a deal with them: If the anglerfish help the two mermaids escape, they'll get them back into the ocean. The anglerfish accept her offer and pop the lock on the tank. With that deed done, Aquaryah and Chelsea escape the undersea vessel along with the anglerfish.

Chelsea and Aquaryah later catch up with Malibu and other merpeople (including a reformed Marlo) as they are working to clear away an island of trash accumulated near Mermaid Rock, and Malibu reveals Aquaryah as the Power Keeper the merpeople need to clear away the entire island. Once Aquaryah awakens as the Power Keeper, Chelsea, working alongside the other merpeople, channels her power into Aquaryah, who uses her newfound abilities to eradicate the entire island of trash. At Mermaid Rock at the end of the day, Chelsea joins in the celebration of the Mermaid Moon Festival.

Personality[]

Chelsea is sweet, funny, girly, and rather clever and smart for her age, and also a bit sarcastic. Like Stacie, she is outgoing and makes friends easily. As a typical seven-year-old, her obsession with mermaids is why she insisted on becoming one with Malibu and Brooklyn and did not want to miss out.

Physical Appearance[]

Chelsea retains the look she had in Dreamhouse Adventures and It Takes Two, but wears her blonde hair down, just as she did in Dolphin Magic. She wears a one-piece light-blue swimsuit with a fish-scale design and emblazoned with the drawing of a mermaid on the front.

As a mermaid, her color scheme is very similar to Barbie's, probably because they are the two sisters that look the most alike. Her hair is a soft periwinkle color. She has a tail colored mostly purple, but it gradients to pink. She is the smallest mermaid, even when compared to Aquaryah.

Mermaid Powers[]

  • Water manipulation/Hydrokinesis: Chelsea can control and manipulate water at will. It is unclear however if her powers will remain in her human form.
  • Aquatic animal communication: With the gift of the power of water, Chelsea can communicate with aquatic animals whilst no other mermaid/merman can do. This is seen where she communicates with Viva.

Malibu, Brooklyn, Skipper and Ken prepare to take a road trip in the camper. Along the way, they will help the Malibu Doggy Rescue Centre find homes for deserving dogs. Most of the dogs are in the camper, except for Bella and Ella, who Chelsea tries to sneak away with. George and Margaret notice and George asks Chelsea what she is doing. Chelsea explains that she doesn't want the dogs to be separated because they are sisters. Malibu promises she will take extra good care of Bella and Ella until they find perfect homes for them.

Rafa calls to let Malibu and Brooklyn know that he booked them an audition to be backup singers for Jacinda's new music video. Margaret asks who Jacinda is, so Malibu, Brooklyn, Skipper and Stacie start singing Jacinda's song "Flip the Script". George sings too, so Chelsea is confused. Brooklyn wants to find an express route to New York so she and Malibu can get to the audition, but Ken and Skipper want to take a scenic route and skip the audition. Ken says it may be their last time for a road trip like this, but Chelsea replies that they could get abducted by aliens and have to start the trip again. Malibu is confused by Chelsea. The viewer makes the decision for Malibu.

When Malibu, Brooklyn, Skipper and Ken are leaving, Chelsea waves goodbye and says she misses them already. There are multiple endings depending on the viewer's choices. In several of the endings, Malibu moves back to California with Chelsea and the rest of her family, and they adopt Bella and Ella.

Physical Appearance[]

Chelsea is a 7-year-old girl with blonde hair, blue eyes and light skin. She has her hair in two low pigtails with purple ponytail holders. Chelsea wears a white top with an atom on it, a pink skirt, aqua leggings, and pink shoes.

Personality[]

"This baby sister is anything but a baby. Just like Dad, she is interested in the world and wants to discover as much as she can, even if it gets her into mischief sometimes!" - Barbie Annual 2023.[1][2]

Chelsea likes Bella and Ella, the sister dogs, because she finds them cute and relates to them being sisters. She thinks sisters should not be separated. Chelsea is known for being imaginative and loving her family, cupcakes, pranks, and her dog Honey (who is not shown in the movie but is in some posters).

Quotes[]

  • Chelsea: [About Bella and Ella] Dad, they're so cute. They're sisters, like us. Sisters need to stick together.
  • Ken: It may be our last chance for a trip like this.
    • Chelsea: Unless you get sucked up by little purple aliens and transported through the space-time continuum and have to start all over again.
  • Chelsea: [When Malibu and the others leave] I miss you already!

Trivia[]

  • If Malibu and Ken investigate the strange sound when they are near Roswell, they will be abducted by aliens and have to start the movie again, just like Chelsea said could happen.
