Story[]

Pre-It Takes Two[]

Brooklyn was previously in Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams. She did a summer program at Handler Arts Academy in and befriended Malibu and Rafa, and also reunited with Emmie. Brooklyn and Malibu competed for a Spotlight Solo in Times Square. Brooklyn got injured after Malibu accidentally knocked her over. They stopped being friends after someone claimed Malibu pushed Brooklyn on purpose, but once Brooklyn found out the truth, they rekindled their friendship and performed together in Times Square, wearing outfits designed by Rafa.

In "Festival Fiasco", Brooklyn says she played little league softball when she was 10.

It Takes Two[]

Season 1[]

In "It Takes Two", Brooklyn and Malibu get accepted for the fall semester at Handler. Brooklyn's parents don't want her to stay at the dorms, and Malibu's parents want her to come back to California. Brooklyn and Malibu want to stay at Brooklyn's house and attend Handler together, so Malibu tries to be a good houseguest. The next day, Brooklyn and Malibu try to show Malibu's parents how nice New York is, but it doesn't go well. Malibu gets an idea to perform a song about how much their friendship means to them. Brooklyn and Malibu get help stalling while they write and rehearse the song. After they perform, their parents change their minds and allow the girls to go to Handler together for the fall, with the girls staying at Brooklyn's house instead of the dorms.

In "First Day Frenzy", Brooklyn find out that a famous Broadway actor named Bertram is a guest teacher at Handler for the year. Brooklyn is a big fan so she wants to audition to be in his acting class. Malibu, Brooklyn and Rafa meet a film student who calls himself The Dash. Brooklyn rehearses so much that she loses her voice, and The Dash says that's why he always has an understudy. This gives Malibu an idea to say Brooklyn's lines off stage while Brooklyn lip syncs them on stage, but Malibu loses Brooklyn's script. Malibu improvises by referencing random speeches, songs and movies. Brooklyn lip syncs and acts it out, and Bertram is impressed by Brooklyn's "inventive comedic commentary" on Shakespeare. Bertram could see Malibu's shoes under the curtain while Brooklyn was on stage, so he knows she was performing too. Bertram says their acting reminded him of his own, and he says they can both be in his class.

Season 2[]

In "We've Got Magic to Do", Rafa books The Barbies two gigs as assistants for a magician named Magnifico. While they perform, Rafa and his cousin Izzy go to meetings to secure more gigs for The Barbies. Magnifico's first performance starts off shaky, so Malibu and Brooklyn hold an intermission and give him advice. Magnifico introduces them to his pigeon, Princess Petunia Pufferfeather, that he will use for the final trick. Petunia flies away after the first performance. After trying multiple ideas to catch Petunia, The Barbies wonder if Petunia enjoys performing as much as they do. They do an impromptu performance in the hopes that Petunia will join in, and she does. They bring Petunia back to Magnifico in time for the final trick.

In "Cut It Out", The Dash wants to make a film for Handler's annual film festival, so Malibu and Brooklyn agree to let him film them. He edits the film in a way that makes them look bad, so Malibu and Brooklyn want him to re-edit it. The Dash initially refuses to re-edit the film, but eventually does after being inspired by Stefan's miming. The final film shows Malibu and Brooklyn talking about how they are chasing their dreams and want their music to inspire people to do the same. The film wins the Audience Choice award.

In "Studio Sleuths", The Barbies record a song at Blown Speaker Studios. Things go missing around the studio, including Brooklyn's phone. Her phone has lyrics and melodies that she and Malibu had worked on for weeks, and none of it was backed up anywhere. Malibu phones Chelsea for help, since Chelsea is observant and has a great memory. Malibu's sisters help The Barbies to investigate who stole the missing objects. They discover it was Gato who stole Brooklyn's phone and the other objects as romantic gifts for the new studio dog, Guinevere.

In "For the Record", Malibu and Brooklyn accidentally breaks Kel's rare record album, Life in B-Flat by Ricky Bricks. Malibu and Brooklyn tell Jayla and Jackson to distract Kel so he doesn't find out it's broken. Lyla is in an underground network that trades rare albums, so she helps the girls to find a replacement. They trade several albums before eventually making a trade with Ricky Bricks himself. After Brooklyn says her father is a big fan, Ricky gives her VIP passes for Kel.

In "Knock It Off", Simone asks Malibu and Brooklyn to pot a plant and they put it in a popcorn bowl. It inspires them to start a business selling plants. Simone suggests keeping the plants in popcorn bowls since it shows the girls' personality, but they use plain plant pots instead. The girls make money from selling plants, but The Dash copies them and upstages them, so their customers go to him instead. The girls realize they should stop competing with The Dash and should use unconventional planters like Simone suggested. The customers start buying from the girls again and they make enough money for a recording session.

In "Costumed Capers", Rafa books Malibu and Brooklyn a gig as mascots for a costume company. They have to hand out flyers in Times Square. At the same time, two men wear the same mascot costumes while they prank people. The pranksters go to a restaurant that Simone and Kel are dining at, and Simone and Kel take a selfie with them, thinking they are Brooklyn and Malibu. A woman that was pranked accuses Simone and Kel of being accomplices, and then confronts Malibu and Brooklyn. They see the pranksters and everyone chases Malibu, Brooklyn and the pranksters until they catch them. Rafa says that the situation was such good publicity for the costume store that the owner doesn't care that not all the flyers were handed out.

In "Cupid Shuffle", Ken writes Malibu a letter about how he keeps thinking about her. Brooklyn considers it to be a love letter. Malibu admits Ken's feelings for her may be more than friendship, but doesn't know how to respond to the letter. Handler Arts Academy is having a Spring Dance so Malibu and Brooklyn join the planning committee. Ticket sales are low, so Malibu and Brooklyn write love letters on behalf of students. They accidentally deliver the letters to the wrong recipients, but manage to swap them over to the right ones. Malibu wants The Barbies' next song to be about the importance of sharing your honest feelings with people. At the dance, the tickets have sold out. Brooklyn asks Malibu what she will say to Ken. Malibu doesn't know what she'll say, but she wants to write a letter to him. Brooklyn offers to write it for her. Malibu thanks her, but says she'll write it herself. They go inside to dance with Rafa.

In "Team No Screens", Brooklyn is obsessed with checking Handler's website to see what the spring musical will be. Epiphany points out that Brooklyn, Malibu, Rafa and Daisy are glued to their phones, so they give her their phones and try to spend 24 hours without them. Brooklyn finds it hard to be in the city without her phone, so they all go camping. Brooklyn sees a jogger listening to music on his phone, so she tries to get his attention. She later sees a woman and asks to borrow her phone, but there's no signal. After being given permission to try and find a signal, Brooklyn climbs a tree and gets a faint signal. The branch breaks and she falls to the ground. Her friends laugh after she explains what happened. Epiphany and Stefan find everyone to tell them that someone called Rafa about securing a gig for The Barbies. He has to phone back or they will lose their spot at the California Music & Food Festival. Everybody forms a human tower so Rafa can stand on top and climb a tree to get a phone signal. After securing the gig, Brooklyn finds out that Handler's spring musical is Dance: The Tale of the Dancer Who Dances.

In "Festival Fiasco", The Barbies are going to perform at the California Music & Food Festival. Brooklyn packs some carrots to snack on, and a sewing kit. Malibu's family entered the festival's annual Chilli Cook-Off, and George put a secret ingredient blend in a jar. Malibu's family rushes to the festival and Malibu and Brooklyn drive there at their own pace. George accidentally left the jar behind, so Margaret asks Malibu to turn around and get it. Malibu's car gets a flat tire because of a wire hanger in the road, so Malibu and Brooklyn change the tire. They get the jar and then as they drive to the festival, they encounter several goats on the road. Brooklyn uses the carrots, sewing kit and wire hanger to lure the goats off the road. Malibu and Brooklyn get the jar to George in time, and then change their costumes and perform. They sing a song called "Feelings", inspired by Ken's love letter. When Malibu and Ken have a moment alone, Skipper interrupts to say it's time for the Chilli Cook-Off results. Brooklyn is disappointed that Skipper interrupted. The Roberts win the Chilli Cook-Off and Brooklyn eats chilli with Ken and the Roberts family.

In "Buddy's Is Booming", Buddy is struggling to pay the rent for his cafe due to low sales. Brooklyn phones Emmie for help. Emmie goes to the cafe and tells her fans she'll be there all day signing autographs and taking selfies. They make it a rule that customers must buy a pastry before meeting Emmie. Rafa thinks he overhears Malibu and Brooklyn saying they love Emmie's manager. Rafa tries to be a bad manager on purpose so the girls won't feel guilty about firing him. When they run out of pastries, Brooklyn, Malibu and Stefan try to make more, but they are not used to professional kitchens. Malibu and Brooklyn confront Rafa over his behavior and tell him they loved Emmie's manicure, not her manager. They say they would never replace him and have a group hug. Rafa invents a pastry called puffins (puffy muffins) and it helps to popularize the cafe.

In "To Dye For", Rafa books Malibu and Brooklyn a commercial audition with Gourmet Popcorn, a company which sells pickle popcorn. To help the girls stand out, Rafa makes them green costumes using a recipe his grandmother gave him. Rafa has to leave for an emergency before he finishes dyeing and drying the costumes, so Malibu and Brooklyn finish it for him. They can't find the recipe so they don't dry the costumes for long enough. The dye turns their skin green. Malibu and Brooklyn go to the audition with green skin and improvise a performance instead of following the script. The company loves the audition and the girls get a call-back audition.

In "Game On!, Malibu and Brooklyn compete in a game show hoping to win money for studio time. They win $1000 worth of potatoes. Bertram offers Brooklyn a slot at the highly prestigious acting academy he'll be opening in the fall. Malibu and Brooklyn's parents buy the potatoes from the girls to reward them for their hard work in school and on their music. Margaret says she is proud of how the girls made the demo on their own. George says it's their turn to help finish what the girls started. Kel says they've decided to split the cost. Malibu thanks her parents and hugs Brooklyn. Malibu is excited for the future and Brooklyn doesn't mention her solo opportunity.

In "Race to the Finish", the West Coast Roberts go to New York to bring Malibu and Brooklyn to California for the summer. The girls try to give their finished demo to Otto Phoenix, but he is out of his office and won't be back until after they've left for California. The girls feel defeated so their parents motivate them and Malibu's sisters offer to help. Brooklyn researches Otto and uses information from his autobiography to narrow down where he could be. Malibu, Brooklyn and Rafa contact many people they know to detour Otto's limo to Brooklyn Bridge Park, where The Barbies perform for him and deliver their demo. Rafa says a lot of people helped them in return for how much the girls helped people during the year. Simone asks Brooklyn if she will accept Bertram's offer to go to his highly prestigious acting academy. Brooklyn is unsure. When Brooklyn leaves with the West Coast Roberts, Rafa and Gato sneak onto the camper, so Malibu says they will need to take a detour through Queens.
