Aquellia is an underwater city in Barbie in A Mermaid Tale 2. It is the city where merfolk history began, and it is located deep in the waters of New Zealand. Aquellia is where the Changing of the Tides Ceremony takes place: every 20 years a member of the royal family must return to Aquellia and sit atop the ancient throne. When they speak the ancient rite, they gain the power to make Merillia, the life force of the ocean.
Trivia
- Ambassador Mirabella refers to the city as the "Mercropolis". The name is probably inspired by the "acropolis" of the Ancient Greece's cities. The "acropolis" was the part located at the highest point of the city.
