Aquaryah Aquavilla is a character in Barbie: Mermaid Power. She is voiced by Madelyn Kratzer. Aquaryah is an orphaned mermaid child who lives in the underwater kingdom of Pacifica. Naturally born without a tail fin, she is equipped with a prosthetic fin created especially for her by her father before his death. She is the younger sister of a merman named Finn, and is later revealed to be Pacifica's latest Power Keeper, regarded as the most powerful of all the merpeople in terms of elemental abilities.

Story

Aquaryah is first seen as one of the spectators present as she witnesses her brother Finn being chosen by the Golden Pearl to compete in the games that will determine the next Power Keeper in Pacifica. After the arrival of Brooklyn and the Roberts sisters in their kingdom, she follows Finn and two other mermaids, Talleigha Fishtail and Sareena Seasquid, into the castle for the opening ceremony. She is excited and hopeful about unlocking her own powers someday, but Talleigha dismisses her idea, claiming she is too young to keep up with the "big fish", and Finn agrees with Talleigha as they head inside. Despite Talleigha's hurtful words, Aquaryah remains optimistic and quickly makes friends with Skipper, Chelsea and Stacie.

When she notices Brooklyn and Malibu having difficulty awakening their powers, she offers to train them in doing so. Under her guidance, Brooklyn slowly develops Fire powers, before Finn confronts his little sister about interacting with strangers, while Aquaryah argues that she is able to handle herself. Finn's attitude toward strangers causes Skipper's anger to grow, and as everyone watches, she awakens Air powers and is congratulated for her discovery by Aquaryah. During a Power-Off challenge invoked by Talleigha and Sareena, Aquaryah watches as Brooklyn and Talleigha fully awaken Fire powers, while Stacie awakens Earth powers to save Malibu from being pulled into a deadly whirlpool. She protests Talleigha's sneaky tactics in the Power-Off and snaps at Finn when he tries to come to her defense.

Aquaryah runs away to a secluded area in a kelp forest, where she practices all night long and well into the next day with powers she has begun to develop. She is found by Chelsea and Viva the vaquita, who convince her to ignore Talleigha's insults and come back to Pacifica. It is this exchange that allows Aquaryah to discover that Chelsea can understand Viva's language, which makes her a Water mermaid. But on the way back to the kingdom, they get lost and are soon captured and imprisoned in a tank by Marlo and her assistant Oslo. However, Aquaryah gets an idea for Chelsea to convince a couple of anglerfish imprisoned with them to help them escape, in exchange for getting them back into the ocean.

Aquaryah and Chelsea later meet up with Malibu and Marlo (who has been transformed into a mermaid by Malibu's mermaid necklace) near an island of trash, where many of the merpeople are present and trying to clean it up. The merpeople explain that the Power Keeper could help clear the trash all at once, and Malibu explains that the Power Keeper is already there, revealing her to be Aquaryah herself and explaining that all of her traits made her the best candidate. Upon hearing such encouraging words, Aquaryah is able to unlock her abilities as a Power Keeper, becoming the most powerful of all the mermen and mermaids. The other merpeople all channel their energies into Aquaryah, and she uses her newfound abilities to eradicate the island of trash. Upon seeing Aquaryah's latest display of her powers, Finn apologizes to her for being overprotective of her, and as the day ends, they join the rest of the merpeople at Mermaid Rock in the celebration under the Mermaid Moon.

Physical Appearance

Aquaryah has pale skin, brown eyes and long dark pink hair that is parted in the center. She wears a pink and purple top and has a tail that gradients from yellow to orange. She also has a plastic prosthetic purple fin which allows her to keep her balance. Her fin was created for her by her father because she was born without one.

Personality

Aquaryah is kind, friendly, optimistic, outspoken, clever, and considerate of others, especially if she notices them having difficulty, as seen when offering to train Brooklyn and Malibu in discovering their innate powers. While she is only a child, she is also seen to be respectful and level-headed, almost never raising her voice at others even when arguing with them. Furthermore, she has openly expressed her absolute confidence in herself, her abilities, and her beliefs, and is shown to be courageous, compassionate, protective, and skillfully dedicated beyond her years, which is most likely why she was chosen as Pacifica's new Power Keeper.
