"A Day at the Beach" is the eighth episode of the second season of the animated series Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures. It was released on Netflix on September 13, 2018.[1]

"Fate turns the tide on Trey and Barbie when they compete for the best spot on the beach. Back at the Dreamhouse, Stacie tries to set a world record."[2]
Story[]
Barbie, Renee and Daisy are going to the beach to record tide pool sounds for Daisy's summer DJ mix. Chelsea films Stacie trying to break the world record for number of pogo stick bounces. Stacie falls over, so Rookie gives her a kiss. At the beach, Daisy can't record properly because Trey, Ned and Ted are using a speedboat. Stacie continues trying to break the pogo stick record. Skipper tells them to quieten down because she is babysitting Bonnie and wants her to have a nap. Chelsea tells Stacie not to give up.
Bonnie cries loudly and Skipper says she has tried everything to make Bonnie nap. Stacie and Chelsea help Skipper to get Bonnie to sleep. At the beach, Trey wants Barbie and her friends to move away from the area. Barbie tells him they need to record the tide pool, but Trey and his friends want the area for themselves to practice for a hover disc golf tournament. In hover disc golf, people throw hover discs to the "holes" instead of hitting golf balls. Barbie and her friends decide to work around Trey, Ned and Ted. Renee puts up a volleyball net while Barbie and Daisy set up Daisy's mic. Trey and his friends make armpit fart noises near Daisy's mic.
Trey throws his hover disc and hits the volleyball net that Renee put up. While Ned and Ted talk to Daisy and Renee, Barbie talks to Trey privately. She wants to compromise, but Trey and his friends refuse to. Barbie tells her friends they have to stand up for themselves. They challenge the boys to a contest. The losers will have to go home.
Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea pretend to be tired in front of Bonnie. They yawn and it makes Bonnie yawn, but she cries loudly when they pretend to be asleep. Feathers come out of Stacie's pillow, so Stacie and Chelsea entertain Bonnie with a feather. They try to make sure the feather doesn't touch the ground until Bonnie falls asleep. Barbie and her friends play volleyball against Trey and his friends. Trey's team loses when he hits the ball out of bounds, but he insists it was in. Barbie doesn't want to bother arguing, so they keep playing.
They record the next round on Barbie's phone so Trey can't cheat. His team hits the ball out of bounds again. They all check Barbie's phone and Trey lies that the ball wasn't out of bounds. Trey's team "won", so Barbie's team gets to pick the next challenge. They do a sandcastle building race. They have 20 minutes to build a sandcastle with sand and water only, and the tallest sandcastle (measured by Barbie's own tape measure) wins.
Ned and Ted start digging before the timer starts. Barbie thinks of when she was younger and built extravagant sandcastles, influenced by Margaret being an engineer. In the present, Barbie's team builds a fancy castle. Trey's castle is a lump of sand that gets washed away by the tide. They lose, so Trey chooses hover disc golf as the last challenge. The winner will get to stay at the beach. Trey's team is better at the game, so Trey asks Barbie if she wants to quit. Barbie tells him that she never quits.
Trey is in the lead, as his hover disc has been thrown the farthest. Barbie throws her hover disc and it lands on a girl's kite. The hover disc falls off and lands next to Trey's. Barbie and Trey throw their hover discs and they land on a rock. They get on the rock and Trey picks up both the hover discs. He tells Barbie she can't have her hover disc back. Barbie asks why he is always mean to her, and he asks her she's always annoying. They argue as the tide comes in, so they get stranded on the rock together.
Barbie notices that the rock is covered in seaweed, meaning the rock is underwater when the tide is high. Barbie's phone runs out of battery and Trey drops his in the water. A dolphin gives Trey back his phone. Barbie prepares for different scenarios, so she brought a measuring tape, helmet, paper, gum, mints and a jumper to the beach.
Barbie attaches the jumper to the extended measuring tape to make a flag to get attention, but the jumper blows away. She writes a note on the paper and uses gum to stick it to the hover disc. She throws it and the dolphin brings it back and blows water on Trey. Barbie tries spelling "SOS" using mints, but runs out of mints when she tries forming the letter O. Trey uses his hover-disc as the O, but the hover-disc and most of the mints get washed away.
Trey refuses to swim back to land and would rather build a raft. Renee and Daisy wonder where Barbie and Trey are. Ned and Ted goof around. Trey makes a raft but it sinks when Barbie touches it. Trey slips on the rock and Barbie catches him. Trey gets scared and says he only knows how to swim in theory. At the Dreamhouse, Bonnie is asleep. Skipper says Stacie and Chelsea may have set the record for the longest amount of time keeping a feather in the air without touching it. Chelsea turned off their camera when she came inside, so they don't have proof.
Barbie tells Trey that she won't tell anyone his secret that he can't swim. She also encourages him to have a better self-image. Trey tells Barbie they will never be friends because he dislikes her and doesn't have to like her. She asks if that means they have to be enemies, and he doesn't respond. Barbie's phone reflects some light, so Trey tells her how to do "S.O.S." in Morse code. They do the signal together and Trey praises Barbie.
Trey and Barbie hear a speedboat. Trey assumes Ned and Ted are coming to rescue them, but it is Ken. Ken is accompanied by sea turtles. Ken says he was releasing rescued sea turtles when Daisy and Renee called him. They told him they couldn't reach Barbie, so he came looking for her. He saw Barbie and Trey's S.O.S and found them.
Ken says he can't bring his speedboat closer because there are too many rocks around, so they will have to swim to the boat. Barbie protects Trey's secret and convinces Ken to throw some life rings. Ken brings Barbie and Trey back to the beach. Daisy and Renee are concerned about Barbie, but Ned and Ted didn't notice Trey was missing. Trey says hover disc golf is about trust, so he can't play with Ned and Ted since they let him down. They leave the beach on a speedboat. Trey doesn't thank anyone for getting him back to safety, but he smiles back at the beach.
Barbie comes home and her sisters tell her they set the world record, but it wasn't recorded. Barbie says the Dreamhouse cameras would have recorded it. Barbie finds the footage and she is proud of her sisters. Barbie tells the viewers that Trey has been "quiet." Barbie says she will keep his secret even though they aren't friends.
