If you are interested in feminism, and the formula for how Barbie Movies are written, you probably would like to know about how great Mariposa was for future Barbie Movies. If you haven't watched Mariposa you should. Mariposa in my opinion is great because of it's predominantly female cast. In this movie, women solve the problems, and a woman is the villain. There is a prince, but he is not important, and for the most part, he is a duo with a secondary character, not Barbie! He is a pawn in the movie. Before, the princes were a major part of Barbie Movies, and usually a hero or dual hero along side Barbie. 12 dancing princesses you could argue had 12 main female characters but let's be real, there were basically 3 main characters, Genevieve, Lacey, and Derrick. The other sisters stayed in the background and did not individual personalities or did they actively make a impression or had a big role in the movie. So a large female cast of heroes didn't really happen until Mariposa.
Mariposa has 6 female leads! It has a female ruler/monarch instead of a king like previous princess movies, and has a female villian that is not old or middle aged. she's pretty and seems like a normal girl but is not. But I think it's interesting they did not make the female villian elderly or at least a middle aged adult like they always do. Mariposa is the main female and she has 3 female friends. you could say this movie has 9 female characters if you want to count the animal sidekick and those mermaids who appear for 1 scene.
The second Mariposa, while honestly not as good as a movie as the first one, definetly follows in the footsteps of the first one with feminism. It focuses on a relationship between two girls. I think the first Mariposa paved the way for how future movies were set up. Immediately after there was diamond castle, which had 3 female leads. Unfortunately there were 2 males but they didn't do much for the plot and were not romantically involved. Then comes the ultimate girl power movie of Three Musketeers, and Mermaid Tale with it's all female cast. As well as Christmas Carol which is another all female cast movie which focuses on the relationship of two girls. Fashion Fairytale sort of set it back a bit by having Ken be the "prince" and being a hero (an emotion hero) to Barbie. Now, with the newer Barbie Movies, all female casts are the norm and I think we can thank Mariposa!
Fairytopia figures were made for Kinder Surprise and I think they were in Italy, I'm not sure if they were released anywhere else though. One source says they were made in 2009 one says 2001, so I'm unsure about that too.
Character names from Barbie movies that have been changed in other countries. Brazil ver;
In the cinematographic world it is common that in the dubbing of other countries some things end up being changed, including characters' names, in today's post I will mention some of these adaptations, but focus on Brazilian adaptations.
Elina
In Brazil, our dear Elina had her name changed to "Fada do Campo" which means "Field Fairy" or "Garden Fairy". It is not known for sure why this sudden name change occurred, but this is how Elina is known in Brazil, and many do not know her real name.
Catherine Beadnell
In Brazil, it was not his name that was changed, but her surname, Beadnell was replaced by "Brito", for being a more popular surname, and Beadnell would end up not captivating the public. How do you think that sounds? Catherine Brito!
Enchantress
The sweet Enchantress had her name replaced by "Rainha das fadas" which means "Fairy Queen". The reason for the change is also not known for sure, but there is a theory that by translating her name, which would be "feiticeira" implying that she would be a witch, which would make the children confused, because how would the queen have that name when the villain is Laverna.
Sunburst
Another character from the fairytopia franchise with a changed name haha. Sunburst had its name changed to "Fada Solar" which means "Sun Fairy". The name change may have been due to the fact that Sunburst is difficult to pronounce, and its translation would be "Reluzente" that wouldn't sound good in portuguese either.
Mariposa
As we know Mariposa is a name of Spanish origin, which means butterfly, but in Brazil Mariposa was literally replaced by "Butterfly" Because in Brazil Mariposa means Moth, so they preferred to translate it into English which is more beautiful and the children associated her with a butterfly that is more beautiful than a moth. [extra information: when Prince Carlos calling her, he calls "Linda Butterfly" linda means beautiful, nobody knows the reason why, maybe for make it clear that he has a crush on Mariposa.]
Catania
Catania is not a very common name in Brazil, so it was replaced by a similar and more common name, this name is "Catarina" this is a name of greek origin that means pure.
And these are the names of characters that were changed in the Brazilian adaptations, did you like this Fun fact? Check it on my Tumblr:

A photo taken by me from the constellation Orion.
Check out this post of mine talking about the constellation:
Hello everyone! In this post I'll be talking about something that intrigued me for a while, it's about the archer in the Barbie Mariposa movie. It became popular in Fandom that that constellation represents Sagittarius, and I will prove this wrong!
• Orion or sagittarius
As a child, I saw the constellation of the archer, and imagined myself from the film of the Moth, years later I discovered that it was the constellation of Orion. But to my surprise, when researching, websites say the constellation in the film is Sagittarius. It doesn't make sense and I will prove it!
• Appearance
Can you see the difference between the real constellations and the movie? The constellation of the archer has nothing to do with the constellation of Sagittarius, and is almost identical to that of Orion.
• Movie reference
In the cave of reflections before speaking of the archer, Mariposa mentions two other constellations: Unicorn and the Crown. Soo, guess what? The constellation of unicorn is close to the constellation of Orion, it does not give Sagittarius.
In conclusion, the archer is really Orion. Orion may not be an archer but his constellation resembles one, which is why Mariposa calls him that. She also says that the archer is a navigator, there is no way a centaur (sagittarius) can be a navigator. Now whenever you ask which constellation is in the Mariposa movie, say Orion, not a Sagittarius.
This is not just a theory but a fact!
