I've noticed many things that Disney might have copied from Barbie movies. The songs and Barbie as Rapunzel are two of them.
There's a song from Elena of Avalor called "Steppin'Up" that uses lyrics from many Barbie songs.
I'm comparing them.
1. "Each step that I take it's hard to see" similar to the lyrics from What If I Shine, "If your eyes are closed it's hard to see."
2. "But I'm gonna stand tall, even when I fall" similar to "And even if she falls, she'll laugh and stand up tall" from You Can Tell She's A Princess.
3. This is where I go crazy.
"Cause I'm steppin up
I am here to stay
No matter what they say
I'm gonna win the day
I'm steppin up
Giving all I got
There's no way I'll stop
Until I reach the top"
And the lyrics from Here I Am go like this:
"I'm steppin' up (I'm steppin' up)
Right to the top (Right to the top)
That's how I'm wired
I take it higher
I'm in control
I broke the mold
The girl you see
Is upto me
I'm liftin' off the ground
Finding the perfect sound
Here I am, being who I want
Giving what I got
Never a doubt now
Here I go
Burning like a spark
Light up the dark again"
See the similarities? Now let's talk about Rapunzel. In the first tellings of the story, nor the author or anyone associated Rapunzel with painting. Mattel was the first to do so, and gave Rapunzel a passion for painting and a purple dress.
Then in 2010, Disney makes a Rapunzel movie named Tangled. They give her a passion for painting and a purple dress.
Now, the question is, when no one associated Rapunzel with purple and painting except Mattel, why was the need to do the same, Disney? That means Disney did plagiarise.
